Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.

Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,524 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 41 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from Comox Valley Airport / CFB Comox, located in Comox, British Columbia, Canada, commenced with a roll on runway 12. The aircraft, MH60 Sierra, accelerated down the 2,900-meter runway, covering a takeoff distance of 1,253 meters, which represented 41% of the available runway length. Liftoff occurred at a speed of 12 knots, marking the beginning of the climb phase.
Following a brief enroute level cruise, which lasted less than 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile, the aircraft transitioned into an enroute climb phase. From an initial altitude of 214 feet above sea level, the aircraft climbed to 1,504 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,290 feet, in just 2 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. Subsequently, the aircraft entered a second enroute level cruise phase, which lasted 10 minutes and covered 25 nautical miles. This cruise phase allowed the aircraft to maintain a steady altitude and airspeed, optimizing fuel efficiency.
The final approach to landing at Qualicum Beach Airport was initiated from 1 nautical mile out, at an altitude of 1,092 feet above ground level. The aircraft descended to a touchdown altitude of 0 feet above ground level, with a descent rate of -436 feet per minute. Touchdown occurred at a speed of 16 knots, with a touchdown distance of 39 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 9 knots from a direction of 276 degrees. The crosswind component was 8 knots, while the tailwind component was 3 knots. The total flight distance was 30 nautical miles, with a total flight time of 13 minutes, and the aircraft consumed 0 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The final approach to landing at Qualicum Beach Airport was initiated from a distance of 1 nm, with the aircraft MH60 Sierra descending from an altitude of 1,092 ft above ground level (agl) to 1 nm at 1,092 ft agl. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a steady rate of descent and a stable airspeed. The aircraft maintained a consistent heading, aligning itself with the centreline of the runway.
As the aircraft descended further, it touched down on the runway at a speed of 16 kt, with a hard touchdown rate of -436 fpm. The touchdown distance was good, measuring 39 m. The aircraft's centreline alignment was maintained throughout the rollout phase, with minimal deviation from the centreline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 16 °C and a wind speed of 9 kt at 276°, contributed to a relatively smooth touchdown and rollout.
The overall performance of the aircraft during the approach and landing phase was satisfactory, with a score of 78.1%. The rollout phase was characterized by a stable and controlled deceleration, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance. The crew's handling of the aircraft during the approach and landing phase was competent, with a good balance between speed and control.
