MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,265 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 329 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at San Francisco International Airport (KSFO). This process took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The departure roll took place on runway 01L, with the aircraft taking off after covering 67% of the runway's length. The takeoff distance was 1,507 meters, and the liftoff speed was 149 knots.
As the aircraft climbed out of KSFO, it encountered local weather conditions of 13°C temperature and a wind speed of 0 knots from 270 degrees. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of the airport and ascending from 1,018 feet above sea level to 35,270 feet above sea level. This climb, which covered a distance of 104 nautical miles, took 13 minutes and resulted in an increase of 34,252 feet in altitude.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 1 mile southwest of Gridley, California. This phase lasted for 48 minutes and covered a distance of 680 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 15 miles northeast of Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport (CYXC) in Canada. The descent, which covered a distance of 95 nautical miles, took 16 minutes and resulted in a decrease of 30,297 feet in altitude, with the aircraft descending from 35,155 feet above sea level to 4,858 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 35R at Calgary International Airport (CYYC) was made from the south, with the aircraft heading 360 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,294 feet above ground level. The landing took place on a runway with a length of 4,265 meters, and the threshold height was good. The threshold speed was also good at 136 knots, and the touchdown distance was 329 meters. The touchdown speed was 130 knots, and the touchdown rate was hard at -419 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.4 meters from the centerline, but the runway rollout alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 1°C temperature and a wind speed of 6 knots from 320 degrees, with a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 1,359 meters, which was 32% of the runway's length.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking 1 minute and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 887 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 85 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,836 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Calgary International Airport, achieving a score of 96.8%. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,294 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 35R, which has a length of 4,265 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft demonstrated good threshold height and threshold speed, touching down at 136 knots. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits at 329 meters. However, the touchdown speed of 130 knots was slightly below the expected value, and the touchdown rate was hard at -419 feet per minute (fpm). This may indicate a slightly aggressive approach or a need for further adjustments in the aircraft's descent profile.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.4 meters, which may be due to factors such as crosswind or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 1°C, with a wind speed of 6 knots from 320°. The crosswind component was 4 knots, while the headwind component was 5 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,359 meters was 32% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was able to maintain a stable and controlled descent after touchdown. Overall, the landing was successful, but there may be opportunities for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and touchdown rate.
