Flight Score
Departure
On the roll, make small rudder corrections against a point at the far end of the runway to hold the centreline within 5.9 m.
What happened: The takeoff roll drifted off the centreline by 5.9 m, and excess bank then carried through all three climb segments. A drifted roll like this usually leads into wandering bank angle through the climb.
Watch for: Watch the heading indicator and runway centreline during the roll, and the attitude indicator for wings level through the climb.

Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: off the centreline.
At the 500 ft gate: off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,638 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 237 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Rome–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (LIRF), the Airbus A330-900 initiated its takeoff roll on runway 25. The aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 173 kt, clearing the 2,009-meter mark, which represented 70% of the runway's length. Local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 14 °C, with a wind of 17 kt at 179 °, resulting in a crosswind of 16 kt and a headwind of 6 kt.
Following a smooth takeoff, the aircraft transitioned into a steady climb, ascending from 1,081 feet above sea level to 36,002 feet in 29 minutes, covering a distance of 154 nautical miles. The enroute climb phase was characterized by a significant increase in altitude, with the aircraft reaching a maximum altitude of 36,002 feet. The crew then leveled off at 36,002 feet, initiating a prolonged cruise phase that lasted 139 minutes and covered 1,087 nautical miles. The aircraft continued to cruise at this altitude before initiating a second climb phase, which saw the aircraft ascend from 36,087 feet to 37,965 feet in just 3 minutes. Following this brief climb, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted 345 minutes and covered 2,409 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, John F. Kennedy International Airport (KJFK), it began its descent, reducing altitude from 37,524 feet to 6,099 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 77 nautical miles. The aircraft then leveled off at 6,099 feet before initiating a final descent phase, which saw the aircraft touch down on runway 22R at KJFK. The landing was characterized by a slightly fast touchdown speed of 140 kt and a fair touchdown rate of -274 fpm. The aircraft's total landing distance was 1,333 meters, representing 51% of the runway's length. Following a smooth rollout, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, concluding a flight that covered a total distance of 3,800 nautical miles and utilized 48,391 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft, an Airbus A330-900, commenced its final approach to runway 22R at KJFK John F Kennedy International Airport from the north east, heading 208.0° at 4 nm and 1,405 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height achieved. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 143 kt, indicating a slight deviation from the optimal landing speed.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's touchdown distance was good at 238 m, but the touchdown speed of 140 kt was a little fast, resulting in a fair touchdown rate of -274 fpm. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 21.1 m from the centreline, which could have contributed to the subsequent rollout alignment issues. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 0 °C and a wind of 4 kt at 350°, were relatively calm, with a minimal crosswind of 2 kt and a tailwind of 3 kt.
The total landing distance of 1,333 m was 51% of the runway length, indicating a reasonable use of the available runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 26.2 m from the centreline, which was a concern. Overall, the landing performance scored 87.5%, reflecting a good but not exceptional performance.
