Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,545 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,545 m of the 2,686 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 412 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The aircraft taxied from the parking area to runway 26R at Munich Airport (EDDM) in 12 minutes, covering a distance of 2 nm.
Take-off was executed on runway 26R with a ground roll of 2,252 m, representing 57 % of the available runway, and the aircraft lifted off at 186 kt. Local conditions were 16 °C temperature, wind 9 kt from 280°, with a 3 kt cross-wind component and a 9 kt head-wind component.
The initial climb began 1 mile west of EDDM, climbing from 2,483 ft asl to 31,949 ft asl, an altitude gain of 29,466 ft achieved in 15 minutes while covering 91 nm.
A level cruise segment commenced overhead the EDQN airfield and continued for 65 minutes, during which 501 nm were flown.
A second climb started 4 miles west of Chedworth (Gloucestershire, England), rising from 32,011 ft asl to 35,667 ft asl, a gain of 3,656 ft in 3 minutes and covering 25 nm.
The aircraft then cruised level 3 miles south of Holme Lacy (Herefordshire, England) for 8 minutes, traversing 61 nm.
A descent commenced 3 miles north of Aberaeron (Ceredigion, Wales), descending from 35,994 ft asl to 32,019 ft asl, a loss of 3,976 ft in 3 minutes over 22 nm.
Subsequent level cruise began 21 miles north-west of Aberporth (Ceredigion, Wales) and lasted 12 minutes, covering 80 nm.
The next climb originated 2 miles west of Carlow (Leinster, Ireland), climbing from 32,289 ft asl to 35,945 ft asl, an increase of 3,656 ft in 3 minutes while covering 23 nm.
A prolonged cruise segment started 1 mile north-west of Borris in Ossory (Leinster, Ireland) and continued for 212 minutes, during which 1,590 nm were flown.
Another climb began at latitude 54.330894, longitude -52.6221277, ascending from 36,082 ft asl to 37,864 ft asl, a gain of 1,781 ft in 2 minutes and covering 11 nm.
The aircraft then cruised level at latitude 54.2412679, longitude -52.9513076 for 152 minutes, covering 1,111 nm.
A descent started 2 miles north-west of Palenville, New York, United States, descending from 37,675 ft asl to 1,387 ft asl, a loss of 36,288 ft in 23 minutes while covering 119 nm.
Final approach to runway 04R at Newark Liberty International Airport (KEWR) reduced altitude from 1,427 ft agl to 132 ft agl in 107 seconds, and the aircraft scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 04R was performed on a 2,686 m runway with a threshold speed of 144 kt. Touchdown occurred 414 m down the runway at 145 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 280 fpm and perfect alignment. Local weather
The Boeing 777-300ER conducted a stabilised approach to runway 04R at KEWR, with gear, flaps, sink-rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits as assessed at the 1,000 ft gate. The aircraft descended from 1,427 ft AGL to 132 ft AGL in 107 seconds while maintaining the local conditions of 18 °C temperature, a 17 kt wind from 040°, including a 4 kt cross-wind component and a 16 kt head-wind component.
During the threshold and flare segment the aircraft presented a good threshold height and a good threshold speed of 144 kt. The flare was executed in line with the approach parameters, preparing the aircraft for touchdown.
Touchdown occurred 414 m down the runway with a touchdown speed of 145 kt, noted as a little fast, and a touchdown rate of minus 280 fpm, rated fair. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,463 m, representing 54 % of the 2,686 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
To tighten the final performance, reduce the touchdown speed slightly below the 144 kt threshold and aim for a gentler vertical rate to bring the -280 fpm descent closer to a flatter profile; these adjustments will help convert the already high 97.7 % score into an even tighter landing.
