Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,993 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 273 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This flight was conducted in a XCub aircraft, taking off from runway 12 at LYBE Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. The taxiing process from the parking area to the runway was swift, taking less than a minute and covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft then began its departure roll, accelerating down the runway to achieve liftoff speed of 85 knots.
The takeoff distance was 399 meters, which accounted for 13% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 140°. The crosswind component was 3 knots, while the headwind component was 10 knots, resulting in a net headwind effect.
Following takeoff, the aircraft began its enroute climb, which started approximately 1 mile south east of the airport. The climb was from an initial altitude of 1,314 feet above sea level to a final altitude of 2,095 feet, representing an increase of 781 feet in just 1 minute. The enroute climb covered a distance of 3 nautical miles.
Once the desired altitude was reached, the aircraft transitioned into a level cruise, which lasted for 4 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. This cruise phase was initiated approximately 1 mile south of the town of Zemun.
The final approach to runway 30 at LYBE Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport was conducted from the south east, with the aircraft heading 298.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles from the runway threshold. The aircraft was at an altitude of 1,681 feet above ground level at this point.
The landing was executed on runway 30, which had a length of 2,993 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 59 knots. The touchdown distance was 271 meters, which was considered good. The touchdown speed was 49 knots, and the touchdown rate was fair at -207 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the runway rollout alignment was very good. The total landing distance was 872 meters, accounting for 29% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 140°, with a crosswind component of 3 knots and a tailwind component of 9 knots.
In conclusion, the flight was completed in 8 minutes, covering a total distance of 11 nautical miles and consuming 4 kilograms of fuel. The flight was executed smoothly, with good performance in terms of takeoff, climb, cruise, and landing.
The XCub aircraft successfully landed at LYBE Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, achieving a high score of 98.7%. The final approach was conducted from the south east, heading 298.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,681 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 30, which has a length of 2,993 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 58 kn, coming in at 59 kn. Despite this, the touchdown distance was good at 271 meters, and the touchdown speed was also within acceptable limits at 49 kn.
The touchdown rate of -207 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down to the ground more smoothly. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 13°C and a wind speed of 10 kn from a direction of 140°. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 kn and a tailwind of 9 kn, which may have affected the aircraft's performance during the landing.
The total landing distance was 872 meters, which is equivalent to 29% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was brought to a stop quickly and efficiently. The runway rollout alignment was also reported as very good, suggesting that the aircraft was aligned with the runway centerline during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the XCub aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good performance in terms of touchdown distance, speed, and alignment.
