Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 4,016 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 189 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from UHKM Sovetskaya Gavan (Maygatka) Airport was smooth, with the Cessna 208B taking to the skies from runway 09 after a takeoff distance of 468 meters, representing 16% of the available runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 79 knots, with a gentle tailwind of 1 knot contributing to the ease of departure. As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, ascending from 1,650 feet above sea level to 9,527 feet in just 7 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles.
The climb phase was followed by a series of level cruises, with the aircraft maintaining a steady altitude and airspeed as it traversed the Russian landscape. Notably, the second level cruise phase lasted for 54 minutes, covering a distance of 160 nautical miles. The aircraft's performance was consistent throughout, with the crew making adjustments as necessary to maintain a safe and efficient flight path. As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, gradually losing altitude and airspeed as it prepared for landing.
The final approach to runway 05R at UHHH Khabarovsk Novy Airport was executed smoothly, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 62 knots and a distance of 187 meters, representing just 12% of the available runway. The touchdown rate was firm, at -354 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned, but the crew's skillful handling ensured a safe and controlled rollout. Following a taxiing period of just 3 minutes, the aircraft came to rest at its designated parking position, having completed a total flight distance of 237 nautical miles and using 338 kilograms of fuel.
The Cessna 208B touched down on runway 05R at UHHH Khabarovsk Novy Airport with a satisfactory approach quality, demonstrating good control and precision throughout the descent. The aircraft maintained a steady heading of 42.0° from a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,293 feet above ground level, ultimately aligning itself with the runway for a smooth touchdown. The threshold height was well-managed, and the threshold speed of 64 knots was achieved as expected.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft exhibited a firm rate of descent at -354 feet per minute, with a touchdown speed of 62 knots. The touchdown distance of 187 meters was within acceptable limits, and the aircraft remained on the runway for a total distance of 468 meters, accounting for 12% of the runway's length. Although the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 6.6 meters from the centreline, the aircraft's rollout alignment was very good, indicating a high degree of control and stability during the post-landing phase.
The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from 270°, contributed to a relatively calm and stable environment for the landing. The minimal crosswind and tailwind components of 1 knot each further facilitated a smooth and controlled touchdown. Overall, the landing performance of the Cessna 208B was satisfactory, with a final score of 96.8% reflecting the aircraft's ability to execute a safe and efficient landing on runway 05R at UHHH Khabarovsk Novy Airport.
