Reduce your height at the threshold
Even a modest height error carries straight through to the touchdown. Geometry alone says that crossing the threshold 10 feet high on a 3° path moves your touchdown roughly 190 feet further down the runway before the flare adds anything.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,790 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 571 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-300ER taxied from the parking area to runway 09L at KATL, a movement that required 13 minutes and covered 1 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 09L the aircraft used 2,232 m of runway, representing 59 % of the available length, and lifted off at 169 kt. Local weather at the time was 21 °C with a wind of 4 kt from 200°, a cross-wind component of 4 kt and a tail-wind component of 1 kt.
The initial climb began 1 mile north-west of Forest Park, GA, climbing from 1,922 ft asl to 33,001 ft asl - an increase of 31,079 ft - in 17 minutes while covering 115 nm.
Level cruise commenced 1 mile west of Piedmont, SC and continued for 194 minutes, during which 1,620 nm were flown.
A second climb started 74 miles east of St. John’s, NL, raising the aircraft from 33,190 ft asl to 34,997 ft asl - a gain of 1,807 ft - in 2 minutes and covering 12 nm.
The subsequent cruise segment began 87 miles east of Torbay, NL and lasted 164 minutes, during which 1,503 nm were traversed.
A third climb was initiated 64 miles north-west of Dingle, Ireland, increasing altitude from 35,001 ft asl to 37,016 ft asl - a rise of 2,016 ft - in 3 minutes while covering 27 nm.
The following cruise leg began 41 miles north-west of Dingle and persisted for 75 minutes, covering 628 nm.
Descent began 1 mile south-east of Esneux, Belgium, with the aircraft descending from 37,010 ft asl to 11,005 ft asl - a loss of 26,005 ft - in 13 minutes and covering 102 nm.
A brief level cruise over Eltville, Germany lasted 2 minutes and spanned 9 nm.
The next descent segment started 2 miles north-east of ETOU Wiesbaden Army Airfield, Wiesbaden, Germany, dropping from 11,006 ft asl to 9,670 ft asl - a decrease of 1,336 ft - in 2 minutes over 7 nm.
A further cruise phase over Eschborn, Germany continued for 11 minutes and covered 52 nm.
Descent resumed overhead Rodenbach, Germany, with altitude falling from 6,519 ft asl to 1,804 ft asl - a reduction of 4,716 ft - in 5 minutes while traveling 16 nm.
Final approach to runway 25R at EDDF Frankfurt Airport was conducted from the east on a heading of 250.0°, entering the approach at 4 nm and 1,450 ft agl. The aircraft descended from 1,512 ft agl to 124 ft agl in 98 seconds and scored on the stabilisation gates.
Landing on runway 25R, which is 2,790 m long, occurred with a threshold height at 90 ft agl noted as significantly above target and a threshold speed of 146 kt. Touchdown was recorded 152 m beyond the touchdown zone at 140 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 67 fpm and a lateral deviation of 6.5 m from the centreline. Local conditions were 16 °C, wind 2 kt from 270°, a cross-wind of 1 kt and a head-wind of 1 kt. The total landing distance was 811 m, representing 29 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was very good.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 10 minutes, covering 3 nm.
Overall, the flight covered 4,106 nm, took 516 minutes, and consumed 64,517 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 25R at EDDF was flown from the east on a heading of 250.0 deg, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,450 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the aircraft descended from 1,512 ft agl to 124 ft agl in 98 seconds.
At threshold the aircraft was 90 ft agl, which was significantly above target, and the threshold speed was recorded as good at 146 kt.
Touchdown occurred 152 m beyond the touchdown zone with a good speed of 140 kt and an excellent rate of minus 67 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 6.5 m from the centreline, the total landing distance was 811 m (29 % of the runway), and the runway length is 2,790 m.
Rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied off the runway safely.
To reduce the excess threshold height, adjust the final descent profile to meet the intended 90 ft target. Aim to place the main gear within the designated touchdown zone to minimise the 152 m overshoot and improve runway usage.
