Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,888 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,888 m of the 3,989 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 403 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 14L at Cologne Bonn Airport (EDDK). The takeoff distance was 1,558 meters, which is 41% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 175 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were a temperature of 7°C, with a wind speed of 17 knots at 129 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 17 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile west of Lohmar, Germany, and ascended from 1,360 feet above sea level to 15,877 feet above sea level, an increase of 14,517 feet in 8 minutes, covering a distance of 33 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 2 miles east of Breinigerberg, Germany, and lasted for 7 minutes, covering a distance of 36 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 1 mile south east of Gouvy, Belgium, and descended from 15,879 feet above sea level to 2,447 feet above sea level, a decrease of 13,433 feet in 10 minutes, covering a distance of 35 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 06 at Luxembourg-Findel International Airport (ELUX) was made from the south west, heading 60.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,250 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 06, which has a length of 3,989 meters. The threshold height was slightly above target at 59 feet above ground level, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 145 knots.
The touchdown distance was good at 405 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 141 knots. The touchdown rate was perfect at -18 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 3°C, with a wind speed of 11 knots at 120 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,811 meters, which is 45% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 111 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 33 minutes. The aircraft used 1,808 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at ELLX Luxembourg-Findel International Airport, achieving a score of 97.3%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 60.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,250 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was conducted in preparation for landing on runway 06, which has a length of 3,989 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down at a speed of 141 knots, which was slightly above the target speed. However, the touchdown distance of 405 meters was considered good. The touchdown rate of -18 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was also very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well-aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 3°C and a wind speed of 11 knots from a direction of 120°. This resulted in a crosswind of 10 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. Despite these conditions, the aircraft landed safely and efficiently.
However, there were a few minor issues with the landing. The threshold height at 59 feet agl was slightly above the target, and the threshold speed of 145 knots was also slightly above the target. Additionally, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 8.1 meters from the centerline. Despite these minor issues, the overall performance of the aircraft was excellent, and the landing was considered safe and successful.
