Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,920 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,920 m of the 2,043 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 719 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LFH2 Bale Mulhouse, a process that took 15 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. Once on the runway, the aircraft took off from runway 15, with a takeoff distance of 703 meters, which accounted for 18% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 160 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 119 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting overhead Hesingue in the Grand Est region of France. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 1,896 feet above sea level to 35,250 feet, an increase of 33,354 feet, in 21 minutes and covering a distance of 110 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started overhead Cadegliano-Viconago in the Lombardia region of Italy and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 11 nautical miles. The aircraft then began another climb, this time from 35,507 feet to 36,275 feet, an increase of 769 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed overhead Macherio in the Lombardia region of Italy and lasted for 37 minutes, covering a distance of 277 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 1 mile east of Massa d'Albe-Corona in the Abruzzo region of Italy. The descent took the aircraft from an altitude of 35,654 feet to 1,594 feet, a decrease of 34,060 feet, in 19 minutes and covering a distance of 82 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 24 at LIRN Naples International Airport was made from the north-east, with a heading of 239.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level.
The landing on runway 24 was successful, with a touchdown point 300 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was slightly above the target speed at 140 knots, and the touchdown rate was fair at -207 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 8 knots at 189 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,836 meters, which accounted for 90% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.0 meters from the centerline. The taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 3 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 503 nautical miles, taking 98 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,730 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at LIRN Naples International Airport, but with some areas for improvement. The final approach was initiated from the north east, heading 239.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,279 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 24, which has a length of 2,043 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 140 knots. This may indicate a slight deviation from the optimal approach speed. The touchdown point was 300 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the aircraft may have been slightly long on the landing. The touchdown speed of 136 knots was a little fast, and the touchdown rate of -207 feet per minute was fair.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.3 meters from the centerline, which may have contributed to the slightly long landing. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 8 knots at 189°. The crosswind was 6 knots, and the headwind was 5 knots, which may have affected the aircraft's alignment during the landing.
The total landing distance was 1,836 meters, which is 90% of the runway length. This suggests that the aircraft was able to stop within a reasonable distance, but the rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.0 meters from the centerline. Overall, the landing was successful, but there are areas for improvement in terms of approach speed, touchdown point, and rollout alignment.
