Shorten the long landing
Ground effect becomes significant below about one wingspan of height. A Cessna 172, with a 36 ft span, enters ground effect at flare height - the float it feels in the hold-off is ground effect arriving on cue. An A320, with a span around 117 ft, has been in ground effect since before the threshold and there is no sudden cushion to feel, only a gradual reduction in induced drag that lengthens any float you allow.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 6,941 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 6,941 ft of the 9,013 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 3,546 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Overall, this aircraft landing showed a high level of skill and competence, with many elements performed exceptionally well.
During the Approach Phase, the pilot demonstrated excellent glideslope alignment, heading alignment, and maintained the correct speed throughout. This set a strong foundation for a successful landing.
In the Landing Phase, the pilot executed a perfect landing flare, which is essential for a smooth touchdown. Although the threshold height was slightly too low, the touchdown rate was fair and the speed was maintained on target. It is worth noting that the touchdown point was slightly beyond the designated zone, but within a reasonable distance.
Despite the impressive execution up to this point, it is important to recognize that the aircraft landed with a 15 knot tailwind, which can pose additional challenges. However, the pilot managed this well and successfully brought the aircraft down safely.
In the Rollout Phase, the runway alignment was slightly off, with the aircraft landing 9.9 meters from the centerline. While this is not ideal, it is still within an acceptable range and did not compromise the safety of the landing.
Overall, this aircraft landing can be seen as a success, with the pilot demonstrating strong skills in many key aspects of the landing process. It is important to continue to practice and improve on these skills to ensure safe and successful landings in the future. Great job on executing a challenging landing with confidence and precision. Keep up the good work!
