Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 300 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
At the 300 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the centreline.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,268 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,268 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 262 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna C172, then departed from runway 10 at EGEY Colonsay Airstrip, with a takeoff distance of 276 meters, which was 55% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 62 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 170 degrees. The crosswind component was 6 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots. The aircraft climbed to an altitude of 2,938 feet above sea level, an increase of 2,572 feet from the initial altitude of 365 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 3 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. This phase started 3 miles south east of EGEY Colonsay Airstrip. The aircraft then began its descent, which started 6 miles south east of the airstrip and ended 7 miles north east of the Isle of Islay. During this phase, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 2,660 feet to 954 feet in 3 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 11 minutes and covered a distance of 13 nautical miles. This phase started 7 miles north east of the Isle of Islay. The final approach to runway 13 at EGPI Islay Airport was made from the north west, with a heading of 122.0 degrees at an altitude of 214 feet above ground level and a distance of 1 nautical mile from the runway.
The landing on runway 13 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 260 meters and a touchdown speed of 52 knots. The touchdown rate was excellent at -62 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at the time of departure, with a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 170 degrees.
The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking area took approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 25 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 23 minutes. The aircraft used 12 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed at EGPI Islay Airport, achieving a high score of 98.0%. The final approach was conducted from the north-west, aligning with the runway 13 threshold at a heading of 122.0°, 1 nautical mile away and at an altitude of 214 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's approach and landing performance were impressive, with a good threshold height and a touchdown speed of 52 knots, which was well within the target range. The touchdown distance of 260 meters was also satisfactory, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. Furthermore, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and precision in navigating the aircraft to the runway.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 8°C and a gentle wind of 7 knots from 170°. The crosswind component was 5 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots, which had a minimal impact on the aircraft's approach and landing. The threshold speed of 69 knots was slightly above the target, but this was not a significant concern given the overall performance of the aircraft.
The touchdown rate of -62 feet per minute (fpm) was an excellent result, indicating a smooth and controlled touchdown. Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of performance and the pilot showcasing their expertise in navigating the aircraft to a safe and controlled touchdown.
