MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Improve the touchdown
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,594 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,594 m of the 3,045 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 254 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Embraer E175 taxied from the parking area to runway 08R at KMIA, a movement that lasted 16 minutes and covered 4 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 08R, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 154 kt and left the ground after traveling 1,374 m, which represented 43 % of the runway length. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 36 °C, wind from 130° at 13 kt, with a 9 kt cross-wind component and a 10 kt head-wind component.
The initial climb began 1 mile southeast of Miami Springs, Florida, where the airplane rose from 977 ft asl to 31,889 ft asl, an altitude gain of 30,912 ft achieved in 15 minutes while covering 91 nm.
Level cruise commenced 1 mile northwest of the FL40 Graham Landing Strip at Moore Haven, Florida, and persisted for 34 minutes, during which 235 nm were flown.
A secondary climb started 2 miles north of FL09 Kittyhawk Estates Airport, Live Oak, Florida; the aircraft increased altitude from 32,550 ft asl to 33,977 ft asl, a gain of 1,428 ft in 2 minutes while traversing 11 nm.
The next cruise segment began 3 miles north of FD63 Squires Aviation Ranch Airport, Jasper, Florida, and lasted 23 minutes, covering 158 nm.
Descent began 3 miles north of GA59 Antique Acres Airport, Barnesville, Georgia, with the airplane descending from 34,007 ft asl to 33,047 ft asl, a loss of 960 ft in 2 minutes over 12 nm.
A further cruise phase originated 3 miles north of Locust Grove, Georgia, and continued for 34 minutes, during which 245 nm were covered.
The final descent was initiated 12 miles north of Oneida, Kentucky; the aircraft descended from 33,029 ft asl to 2,186 ft asl, a reduction of 30,843 ft in 19 minutes while flying 103 nm.
On final approach to runway 36R at KCVG, the aircraft approached from the south on a heading of 0.0°, at 4 nm distance and 1,286 ft above ground level.
Landing on runway 36R, which is 3,045 m long, the threshold speed was recorded at 136 kt, above the target. Touchdown occurred 255 m down the runway at a speed of 134 kt, with a hard touchdown rate of minus 439 fpm and very good alignment. Local temperature was 29 °C. The total landing distance measured 1,515 m, representing 50 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout alignment was perfect as the aircraft decelerated to a stop.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 3 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 864 nm, required 138 minutes of elapsed time, and used 0 kg of fuel.
The Embraer E175 executed a final approach to runway 36R at KCVG Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport from the south, on a heading of 0.0° at 4 nm and 1,286 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits, and the aircraft carried a score of 96.5 %.
At threshold the aircraft maintained a good threshold height, but the threshold speed was well above target at 136 kt.
Touchdown occurred 255 m down the runway; the touchdown speed of 134 kt was fast and the touchdown rate was hard at minus 439 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The total landing distance was 1,515 m, representing 50 % of the 3,045 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was perfect.
To convert the high threshold and touchdown speeds toward their targets, a slightly slower approach and refined flare timing are recommended. Reducing the descent rate at flare will also help soften the hard touchdown while preserving the excellent alignment already demonstrated.
