Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,895 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 413 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 4 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, then departed from runway 12 at LFOB Paris-Beauvais Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,544 meters, which accounted for 65% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 9 knots at 231°.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 1,335 feet above sea level to 33,084 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,749 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 127 nautical miles. The climb started 1 mile north of Therdonne, a town in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which lasted for 167 minutes and covered a distance of 686 nautical miles. This phase began 1 mile south of Marville, a town in the Grand Est region of France.
The aircraft then began its enroute descent from 32,958 feet above sea level to 4,701 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,256 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 112 nautical miles. This descent started 22 miles west of Karosta, a town in Latvia. After the initial descent, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 262 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. This phase began 1 mile northeast of EVTI Valgundes lidlauks Tireli, a location in Latvia.
The aircraft then began its final descent from 4,454 feet above sea level to 3,032 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,423 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. This descent started 2 miles east of EVTI Valgundes lidlauks Tireli. Following this descent, the aircraft entered another brief level cruise phase, which lasted for 2 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. This phase began 1 mile north of Ozolnieki, a town in Latvia.
The aircraft then began its final descent from 2,628 feet above sea level to 1,330 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,298 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. This descent started 2 miles south of Olaine, a town in Latvia. The aircraft then began its final approach to runway 36 at EVRA Riga International Airport, flying from the south at a heading of 5.0° and at an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level.
The aircraft landed on runway 36 at EVRA Riga International Airport, which had a length of 2,895 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 147 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 412 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 142 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -153 feet per minute. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.1 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 70°. The crosswind was 9 knots, and the headwind was 4 knots. The total landing distance was 1,406 meters, which accounted for 49% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking from the runway, which took 3 minutes and covered less than
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft successfully landed at Riga International Airport, achieving a high score of 97.8%. The final approach to runway 36 was conducted from the south, with a heading of 5.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,272 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height, and the threshold speed was also satisfactory at 147 knots. The touchdown distance was within acceptable limits at 412 meters, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 142 knots was slightly higher than desired, suggesting that the pilots may have been able to maintain a more optimal speed during the approach.
The touchdown rate of -153 feet per minute was good, indicating a controlled and stable descent. Unfortunately, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 5.1 meters, which may have been due to a slight deviation in the approach path.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 12°C and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 70°. The crosswind component was 9 knots, while the headwind component was 4 knots. These conditions may have presented some challenges for the pilots during the approach and landing.
The total landing distance of 1,406 meters was 49% of the available runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the pilots were able to maintain a high level of control and precision during the approach and landing. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilots were able to maintain a stable and controlled rollout after touchdown.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilots demonstrated a high level of skill and precision. However, there were some minor deviations from optimal performance, such as the slightly fast touchdown speed and the misaligned runway touchdown position.
