Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,238 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,238 ft of the 9,366 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,322 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 04R at ZPPP Kunming Changshui International Airport. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, took off with a takeoff distance of 7,187 ft, which was 55% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 148 kt. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 67 °F and a wind speed of 4 kt at 30 °, resulting in a crosswind of 1 kt and a headwind of 4 kt.
As the aircraft climbed, it started its enroute climb 1 mile north east of ZPPP Kunming Changshui International Airport. The climb took place from an initial altitude of 7,883 ft asl to a maximum altitude of 34,976 ft asl, an increase of 27,093 ft in just 20 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nm. This rapid ascent was followed by a level cruise that started 25 miles west of Wenshan City and lasted for 78 minutes, covering a distance of 608 nm.
The enroute descent began 24 miles east of VDSA Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport and lasted for 21 minutes, during which the aircraft descended from 34,519 ft asl to 1,316 ft asl, a decrease of 33,203 ft. This descent covered a distance of 110 nm. The final approach to runway 23 at VDPP Phnom Penh International Airport was made from the north east, heading 226.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,263 ft agl.
The landing on runway 23 at VDPP Phnom Penh International Airport was successful, with a touchdown distance of 1,316 ft, which was good. However, the touchdown speed of 132 kt was slightly above the target speed, and the touchdown rate was perfect at -33 fpm. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 ft from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 82 °F and a wind speed of 3 kt at 230 °, resulting in a crosswind of 0 kt and a headwind of 3 kt.
The total landing distance was 4,965 ft, which was 53% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good. After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 831 nm, and the flight duration was 126 minutes. The aircraft used 10,742 lbs of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at Phnom Penh International Airport, achieving a high score of 99.4%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the north east, heading 226.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,263 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft touched down on runway 23, which has a length of 9,366 feet.
The threshold height was good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct altitude as it approached the runway. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 137 kt, coming in at 138 kt. Despite this, the touchdown distance was within acceptable limits at 1,316 feet. The touchdown speed of 132 kt was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -33 feet per minute (fpm) was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 13 feet from the centreline, which may require some adjustments to the aircraft's approach path to improve accuracy. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 82°F and a gentle wind of 3 kt at 230°. The crosswind component was negligible, and the aircraft had a slight headwind of 3 kt.
The total landing distance of 4,965 feet was 53% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft's brakes were applied smoothly and effectively to bring the aircraft to a stop. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, and the aircraft came to a stop safely on the runway.
