Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 4,804 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the full 4,804 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 403 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 30L at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (KSJC). The Cessna 208B aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 1,967 ft, which was 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 95 kt. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were a temperature of 64 °F and a wind speed of 11 kt at 310 °, resulting in a 2 kt crosswind and an 11 kt headwind.
As the aircraft climbed, it started 2 miles north of Santa Clara and reached an altitude of 7,360 ft asl, an increase of 6,331 ft in 10 minutes, covering 18 nm. The enroute level cruise started 6 miles north of Morgan Hill and lasted 46 minutes, covering 109 nm. The aircraft then began its descent 3 miles southeast of Paso Robles, descending from 7,400 ft asl to 4,195 ft asl, a decrease of 3,205 ft in 5 minutes, covering 12 nm.
The aircraft then leveled off overhead Santa Margarita and cruised for 15 minutes, covering 11 nm. Another descent started 1 mile southeast of Morro Bay, with the aircraft descending from 3,937 ft asl to 1,678 ft asl, a decrease of 2,259 ft in 4 minutes, covering 7 nm. The final approach to runway 11 at San Luis County Regional Airport (KSBP) was made from the northwest, heading 125.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,478 ft agl.
The landing on runway 11 at KSBP was successful, with a touchdown distance of 388 ft and a touchdown speed of 53 kt. The touchdown rate was smooth at -141 fpm. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 45 ft from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 57 °F and a wind speed of 9 kt at 310 °, resulting in a 1 kt crosswind and a 9 kt tailwind.
The total landing distance was 3,472 ft, which was 72% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 62 ft from the centreline. Taxiing to the parking from the runway took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nm. The total flight distance was 166 nm, taking 92 minutes, and the aircraft used 810 lbs of fuel.
The Cessna 208B aircraft successfully landed at KSBP San Luis County Regional Airport, achieving a score of 90.7%. The final approach was conducted from the northwest, heading 125.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,478 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 11, which has a length of 4,804 feet.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 58 knots. However, the touchdown distance of 388 feet was good, and the touchdown speed of 53 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was smooth at -141 feet per minute (fpm), indicating a controlled descent.
Despite the good performance in terms of speed and distance, there were some issues with alignment during the landing. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 45 feet from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was also off by 62 feet from the centreline. This suggests that the pilot may have had some difficulty maintaining a straight course during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were mild, with a temperature of 57°F and a wind speed of 9 knots from 310°. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 9 knots, which may have contributed to the difficulties with alignment. Overall, the landing was successful, but there is room for improvement in terms of maintaining a straight course during the rollout.
