Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 7,978 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,332 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, then departed from runway 36R at KAUS Austin Bergstrom International Airport. The takeoff distance was 5,035 feet, which accounted for 56% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 148 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 339 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile northeast of KAUS Austin Bergstrom International Airport. The climb took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 81 nautical miles, with the aircraft ascending from an altitude of 1,555 feet above sea level to 31,687 feet above sea level.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 4 miles southwest of 49XS McCasland Ranch Airport. This phase lasted for 18 minutes and covered a distance of 125 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 3 miles west of 1TX7 Killion Ranch Airport. The descent took 20 minutes and covered a distance of 89 nautical miles, with the aircraft descending from an altitude of 31,708 feet above sea level to 4,523 feet above sea level.
The final approach to runway 26 at KLBB Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 270.0 degrees at an altitude of 4 nautical miles and 1,253 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 26, which had a length of 7,978 feet. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was above the target speed at 139 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 1,337 feet, but the touchdown speed was a little fast at 134 knots. The touchdown rate was good at -190 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 51 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 57 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 8 knots from a direction of 299 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 4 knots and a headwind of 6 knots. The total landing distance was 4,275 feet, which accounted for 54% of the runway.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 305 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 68 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 6,116 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 737-700 aircraft successfully landed at KLBB Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, with a score of 93.8%. The final approach to runway 26 was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,253 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the threshold speed was found to be above the target speed, registering at 139 knots. This indicates that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and speed. The touchdown distance was also within acceptable limits, measuring 1,337 feet. However, the touchdown speed of 134 knots was slightly faster than desired, which may have resulted in a slightly higher deceleration rate.
The touchdown rate of -190 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown position was found to be misaligned by 26 feet from the centreline, which may have contributed to the subsequent rollout alignment issues.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 57°F and a wind speed of 8 knots from 299°. The crosswind component was minimal at 4 knots, while the headwind component was 6 knots. These conditions were relatively favorable for landing.
The total landing distance of 4,275 feet was 54% of the available runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway rollout alignment was found to be misaligned by 51 feet from the centreline, which may have resulted in a longer rollout distance and increased the risk of overrunning the runway.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and the pilot maintaining control throughout the rollout. However, there were some minor issues with alignment and speed, which can be addressed through further training and practice.
