See Departure Roll
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,970 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,970 m of the 3,242 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 579 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LROP Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport. This process took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 08R, with a takeoff distance of 1,635 meters, which is 47% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 173 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started at an altitude of 1,317 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 35,132 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,815 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 142 nautical miles. The climb began 1 mile northwest of Tunari, Romania, and continued until it reached the enroute level cruise phase.
During the enroute level cruise, the aircraft flew at a steady altitude, starting 2 miles south of Ilovat, Romania, and lasting for 25 minutes, covering a distance of 180 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting overhead LDOC Osijek-Čepin Airfield Osijek, Croatia, and descending from 34,995 feet above sea level to 11,236 feet above sea level, a decrease of 23,759 feet in 14 minutes, covering a distance of 102 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another enroute level cruise phase, starting 1 mile southwest of Rugvica, Croatia, and lasting for 3 minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles. The descent phase began again, this time starting 2 miles east of Lasinja, Croatia, and descending from 10,839 feet above sea level to 1,662 feet above sea level, a decrease of 9,177 feet in 5 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 04 at LDZA Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport was made from the southwest, heading 47.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,302 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 04, which has a length of 3,242 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was also good at 140 knots.
The touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was a little fast at 132 knots. The touchdown rate was fair at -235 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 1 degree Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots at 99 degrees.
The total landing distance was 1,884 meters, which is 58% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect. After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, taking 4 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 459 nautical miles, taking 84 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,877 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LDZA Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport, achieving a high score of 98.4%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southwest, heading 47.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,302 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot maintained a good threshold height, which is a crucial aspect of a safe landing.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft landed on runway 04, which has a length of 3,242 meters. The threshold speed was satisfactory at 140 knots, indicating that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent. However, the touchdown point was 158 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which may be considered a minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 132 knots was slightly faster than the ideal speed, which could have been a result of the pilot's attempt to maintain control during the landing.
The aircraft's touchdown rate of -235 feet per minute (fpm) was fair, indicating a moderate rate of descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, which is a testament to the pilot's skill and experience. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 1°C and a wind speed of 4 knots at 99°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the headwind component was 2 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,884 meters was 58% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the pilot had sufficient control over the aircraft's descent and was able to maintain a stable approach. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, indicating that the pilot had successfully transitioned from the landing phase to the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated a high level of skill and experience. However, there were minor deviations in terms of touchdown speed and point, which could be addressed through further training and practice.
