Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 7,616 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 7,616 ft of the 9,832 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,450 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 18 minutes and covered a distance of 5 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300, then departed from runway 30R at OBBI Bahrain International Airport. The takeoff distance was 9,007 feet, which accounted for 82% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 198 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 320 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 1 mile north of Al Muharraq, and climbed from an altitude of 1,024 feet above sea level to 34,670 feet above sea level, an increase of 33,647 feet, in 23 minutes and covering a distance of 163 nautical miles.
The enroute climb was followed by a brief level cruise period, which started 13 miles northeast of OMAZ Zirku Airport on Zirku Island, and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 15 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 25 miles east of OMAZ Zirku Airport, and descended from an altitude of 34,602 feet above sea level to 32,951 feet above sea level, a decrease of 1,651 feet, in 2 minutes and covering a distance of 15 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise period that followed was the longest segment of the flight, lasting 477 minutes and covering a distance of 4,016 nautical miles. This period started 31 miles north of OMAI Abu Dhabi Airport. The aircraft then began its descent, starting 17 miles north of WARE Noto Hadinegoro in Jawa Timur, Indonesia, and descended from an altitude of 32,912 feet above sea level to 1,383 feet above sea level, a decrease of 31,528 feet, in 18 minutes and covering a distance of 90 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 09 at WADD Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali was made from the west, with a heading of 88.0 degrees at an altitude of 1,343 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The landing was made on runway 09, which had a length of 9,832 feet. The threshold height at 132 feet above ground level was excessively over target, but the threshold speed was good at 141 knots.
The touchdown point was 875 feet beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 142 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was very heavy at -939 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 52 feet from the centreline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 60 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance was 7,141 feet, which accounted for 73% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 69 feet from the centreline. The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 7 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 4,313 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 540 minutes, with a total fuel consumption of 170,511 pounds.
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at WADD Ngurah Rai (Bali) International Airport, but the landing was not without its issues. The final approach to runway 09 from the west was initiated at a height of 1,343 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft was heading in the direction of 88.0°, which is slightly off from the runway's centerline.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 875 feet beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a significant deviation. The touchdown speed of 142 knots was slightly faster than the recommended speed, and the touchdown rate of -939 feet per minute was excessively heavy. This indicates that the aircraft may have been experiencing a high rate of descent during the final stages of the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 82°F and a gentle wind of 3 knots from a direction of 60°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, and the headwind component was 3 knots, which is a relatively light wind condition.
Despite the favorable weather, the aircraft's runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 52 feet from the centerline. This misalignment was also reflected in the runway rollout alignment, which was off by 69 feet from the centerline. The total landing distance of 7,141 feet was 73% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there are several areas for improvement, including reducing the touchdown speed and touchdown rate, improving the alignment of the aircraft during the final stages of the approach, and ensuring that the aircraft touches down within the designated touchdown zone.
