MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,642 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 838 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 32 at LDRO Otočac Airfield, a small airfield in Croatia. The DA40-NG aircraft took off with a takeoff distance of 374 meters, which was 23% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 65 knots, and the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind blowing at 2 knots from the west.
As the aircraft climbed out of Otočac, it began its enroute climb, starting overhead the town of Gornji Prozor in Lika-Senj, Croatia. The aircraft climbed from an altitude of 2,231 feet above sea level to 5,499 feet, an increase of 3,268 feet in just 5 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. This initial climb phase was followed by a level cruise, which lasted for 7 minutes and covered 17 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another climb phase, this time starting 7 miles northwest of Sveti Rok in Lika-Senj, Croatia. The climb from 6,382 feet to 8,264 feet, an increase of 1,883 feet, was achieved in just 2 minutes, covering a distance of 4 nautical miles. Following this climb, the aircraft entered another level cruise phase, which lasted for 18 minutes and covered 47 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent, starting 1 mile north of Primosten in Sibenik-Knin, Croatia. The descent from 8,156 feet to 2,483 feet, a decrease of 5,673 feet, was achieved in just 4 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, this time starting overhead Marina in Split-Dalmatia, Croatia, and lasting for 22 minutes, covering 29 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 21 at LDSB Brač Airport was made from the northeast, with the aircraft heading 214.0 degrees at 3 nautical miles and 789 feet above ground level. The landing was made on the runway, which was 1,642 meters long, and the threshold height was good. However, the threshold speed was too high at 90 knots, and the touchdown point was very long, using more than 50% of the available runway. The touchdown speed of 60 knots was a little fast, but the touchdown rate was excellent at -54 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were similar to those at the departure airfield, with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind blowing at 2 knots from the west.
The total landing distance was 1,024 meters, which was 62% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 121 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 61 minutes, with the aircraft using 23 kilograms of fuel.
The DA40-NG aircraft successfully landed at LDSB Brač Airport, achieving a score of 90.0%. The final approach was conducted from the north east, heading 214.0° at a distance of 3 nautical miles and an altitude of 789 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft landed on runway 21, which has a length of 1,642 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was too high at 90 knots. This indicates that the pilot may have been able to reduce the speed further before touchdown, potentially improving the overall landing performance. The touchdown point was located very far down the runway, using more than 50% of the available length. This suggests that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed and distance.
The touchdown speed of 60 knots was reported as a little fast, which may have contributed to the long touchdown distance. However, the touchdown rate of -54 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, demonstrating good pilot control and situational awareness.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with a wind speed of 2 knots from 270°. The crosswind component was 2 knots, while the headwind component was 1 knot. These conditions were relatively calm, which may have contributed to the smooth landing performance.
The total landing distance was 1,024 meters, which represents 62% of the available runway length. This is a relatively long distance, but it is not excessively so given the circumstances. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there are opportunities for improvement, particularly in terms of reducing the threshold speed and touchdown speed. With further practice and refinement, the pilot may be able to achieve an even higher score and improve the overall landing performance.
