Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,651 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 137 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 04 at LFLP Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, where the Beechcraft Baron G58 took off after covering 94% of the 1,064-meter runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 78 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time were characterized by a temperature of 16°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 269 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and tailwind.
As the aircraft climbed to a higher altitude, it began its enroute climb from 2,555 feet above sea level (asl) to 4,921 ft asl, an increase of 2,365 feet in just 2 minutes, while covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The climb took place over Pringy in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France.
Later, the aircraft initiated its enroute descent from 4,853 ft asl to 2,214 ft asl, a decrease of 2,639 feet in 6 minutes, covering a distance of 13 nautical miles. This descent occurred over Etercy in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France.
The final approach to runway 18 at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport was made from the north, with the aircraft heading 171.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,432 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on runway 18, which was 1,651 meters long, with a good threshold height. The threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 75 knots, at 72 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 136 meters, but the touchdown speed was a little fast. The touchdown rate was good at -185 feet per minute (fpm), and the runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 1 knot from 270 degrees, resulting in a negligible crosswind and headwind. The total landing distance was 1,266 meters, which was 77% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area from the runway in just 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 23 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 14 minutes. The aircraft used a total of -189 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft Baron G58 successfully landed at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, achieving a score of 96.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the north, heading 171.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,432 feet above ground level (agl). The pilot executed a precise final approach, aligning perfectly with the runway threshold.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's speed was slightly below the target threshold speed of 75 knots, which is a desirable outcome. The touchdown distance of 136 meters was also within acceptable limits, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 72 knots was a little faster than desired, which may have been due to the aircraft's momentum at the time of touchdown.
The aircraft's rate of descent was good, at -185 feet per minute, which suggests that the pilot maintained a stable and controlled approach. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot successfully aligned the aircraft with the runway centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a light wind of 1 knot from 270°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, and the headwind component was zero. These conditions contributed to a smooth and stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,266 meters was 77% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. This suggests that the pilot executed a precise and controlled approach, minimizing the aircraft's energy at touchdown. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase.
Overall, the Beechcraft Baron G58's landing at LFLB Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport was a success, with the pilot executing a precise and controlled approach that resulted in a smooth and stable touchdown. The aircraft's performance was impressive, and the pilot's skills were evident throughout the landing.
