MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 305 m and 152 m above the runway.
At the 305 m gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,050 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 350 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 30 at BIVM Vestmannaeyjar Airport, where the aircraft, a Citation CJ3+ with the registration N60US, took off with a takeoff distance of 483 meters, which was 40% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 128 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a headwind of 2 knots and a crosswind of 1 knot.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started overhead BIVM Vestmannaeyjar Airport. The climb took the aircraft from an altitude of 312 meters above sea level to 3,137 meters above sea level, an increase of 2,824.3 meters, in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 12 nautical miles. Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which lasted for 5 minutes and covered a distance of 19 nautical miles, 13 miles north-west of Vestmannaeyjar.
The enroute descent began 7 miles south-east of Thorlakshoefn, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 3,029 meters above sea level to 538 meters above sea level, a decrease of 2,490.8 meters, in 13 minutes, covering a distance of 34 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 28 at BIKF Keflavik International Airport was made from the east, with the aircraft heading 271.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 492 meters above ground level.
The landing on runway 28 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 345 meters, which was good, and a touchdown speed of 84 knots, which was also good. However, the touchdown rate was firm at -1.8 meters per second. The runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 19.1 meters from the centreline, and the runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 18.7 meters from the centreline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots from a direction of 279 degrees, resulting in a headwind of 3 knots and a crosswind of 1 knot. The total landing distance was 489 meters, which was 16% of the runway. The taxiing to the parking from the runway took 1381 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 70 nautical miles, and the flight used -2 kilograms of fuel.
The Citation CJ3+ aircraft, registered as N60US, successfully landed at Keflavik International Airport (BIKF) on runway 28. The final approach was initiated from the east, heading 271.0° at an altitude of 492.0 meters above ground level (agl) and 4 nautical miles from the runway. The aircraft's performance during the landing was evaluated, and the results showed a score of 74.0%.
The aircraft touched down on the runway at a speed of 84 kt, which was within the acceptable range. The touchdown distance of 345 meters was also considered good. However, the threshold height at 28.0 meters agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the aircraft may have been higher than desired at the moment of touchdown. The threshold speed was slightly below the target at 96 kt, but this was not considered a major issue.
One of the notable aspects of the landing was the runway touchdown position, which was significantly misaligned by 19.1 meters from the centerline. This suggests that the aircraft may have drifted off course during the final approach or touchdown. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 3 kt from 279°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kt, while the headwind component was 3 kt.
The total landing distance of 489 meters was 16% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 18.7 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft may have continued to drift off course after touchdown. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of maintaining a straight course during the final approach and touchdown.
