Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,737 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 184 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 30 at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, EGPK. The aircraft, Sirius, accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 209 meters, which accounted for 8% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 57 knots, marking the start of the flight.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots from a direction of 195 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 9 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots. The pilot navigated the aircraft through a right-hand pattern entry from runway 30, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles in 19 seconds.
The right-hand pattern crosswind leg was completed in a remarkably short distance of less than 1 nautical mile in just 9 seconds. The pilot then executed a pattern downwind turn, covering a distance of 2 nautical miles at an angle of 45 degrees to the runway, with a bank angle of 16.9 degrees. The downwind leg itself was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 14 seconds.
As the aircraft approached the runway, it began its final approach to runway 12 from the north-west, heading 125 degrees at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 117.3 meters above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold speed of 41 knots, which was well below the target speed, requiring the pilot to exercise caution to avoid stalling.
The touchdown distance was satisfactory at 181 meters, and the touchdown speed of 33 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate was perfect at -0.1 meters per second. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.2 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 2 knots from a direction of 270 degrees, resulting in a crosswind of 1 knot and a tailwind of 2 knots.
The total landing distance was 353 meters, which accounted for 13% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The total flight distance was 6 nautical miles, which was completed in 5 minutes, and the aircraft used 1 kilogram of fuel during the flight.
The aircraft, identified as Sirius, successfully landed on runway 12 at EGPK Glasgow Prestwick Airport with a high score of 92.8%. The final approach was initiated from the north-west, heading 125.0° at 1 nautical mile and 117.3 meters above ground level (agl). The pilot demonstrated good control and precision throughout the approach, ultimately touching down on the runway with a good touchdown distance of 181 meters.
The touchdown speed of 33 knots was well within the target range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown rate of -0.1 meters per second was also perfect, signifying a gentle and stable landing. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.2 meters from the centerline, which may require some adjustments in the pilot's approach strategy.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a gentle wind of 2 knots at 270°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 2 knots. These conditions likely contributed to the smooth and controlled nature of the landing.
The total landing distance of 353 meters was only 13% of the runway length, indicating a short and efficient landing. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained control and stability throughout the landing process. Overall, the Sirius aircraft demonstrated excellent landing skills and precision, earning a high score of 92.8%.
