MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
There are several things that can go wrong during the flare, carrying too much speed over the threshold, starting the flare at the wrong height and inconsistent flight control inputs, all contribute to a poor flare resulting in a hard touchdown or a float down the runway.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,730 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,730 m of the 3,406 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 483 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied to runway 25 at London Luton Airport (EGGW) and commenced the departure roll. The takeoff run measured 1,108 m, representing 54 % of the runway, and the aircraft lifted off at 144 kt. Ambient conditions were 26 °C with a wind of 15 kt from 290°, giving a 12 kt headwind and a 9 kt cross-wind component.
Climb began overhead Luton, England, with the aircraft accelerating from 1,410 ft asl to 35,507 ft asl, an increase of 34,097 ft achieved in 23 minutes while covering 159 nm.
Level cruise was established overhead Staden, Flanders, Belgium and continued for 208 minutes, during which 1,383 nm were flown.
Descent commenced 3 miles north-west of Tavas, Denizli, Turkey, with the flight descending from 36,419 ft asl to 11,326 ft asl, a loss of 25,093 ft in 16 minutes and covering 95 nm.
A second cruise segment started 7 miles north of Kizilkaya, Burdur, Turkey and lasted 20 minutes, during which 92 nm were traversed.
The next descent began 3 miles south of Sutculer, Isparta, Turkey, bringing the aircraft down from 10,836 ft asl to 1,462 ft asl, a decrease of 9,374 ft in 8 minutes and covering 30 nm.
For the final approach the aircraft was aligned with runway 18C at Antalya International Airport (LTAI) from the north, flying a heading of 186.0° at 4 nm and 1,278 ft agl. Local weather was 28 °C with a wind of 3 kt from 180°, providing a 3 kt headwind and no cross-wind.
Landing on runway 18C was executed with a threshold speed of 137 kt; the touchdown occurred 68 m beyond the touchdown zone at 136 kt, a little fast, and the aircraft settled with a firm rate of minus 323 fpm. The total landing distance was 1,650 m, 48 % of the runway, and the touchdown point was misaligned by 9.9 m from the centreline. Runway rollout alignment remained off by the same 9.9 m.
After exiting the runway, the aircraft taxied to parking in 5 minutes, covering 1 nm.
In total the flight covered 1,767 nm, took 254 minutes, and consumed 9,852 kg of fuel.
The final approach to runway 18C was flown from the north on a heading of 186.0° at 4 nm and 1,278 ft agl, with ambient temperature 28 °C, a head-wind component of 3 kt from 180°, and no cross-wind.
At threshold the aircraft was 58 ft agl, which was slightly above the target height, and the threshold speed was recorded as a good 137 kt.
Touchdown occurred 58 m beyond the designated touchdown zone with a speed of 136 kt, noted as a little fast, and the vertical rate was firm at minus 323 fpm; lateral alignment was slightly off centreline by 5.8 m.
The rollout covered 1,639 m, representing 48 % of the 3,398 m runway, and runway-rollout alignment was very good.
Refine flare timing to bring the touchdown point within the touchdown zone and reduce speed to the target value, and maintain tighter lateral control to keep centreline deviation within a metre.
