Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,694 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,694 m of the 3,001 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 609 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200ER, then departed from runway 05 at RJTT Tokyo Haneda International Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,319 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 180 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a tailwind of 3 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles east of RJTT Tokyo Haneda International Airport. The climb took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 70 nautical miles, during which the aircraft ascended from an altitude of 1,064 feet above sea level to 28,855 feet above sea level, an increase of 27,792 feet.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles southwest of RJT2 Miho Airfield Shizuoka. This phase lasted for 7 minutes and covered a distance of 70 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 4 miles southeast of Ishiki. The descent took 14 minutes and covered a distance of 78 nautical miles, during which the aircraft descended from an altitude of 28,806 feet above sea level to 1,305 feet above sea level, a decrease of 27,501 feet.
The final approach to runway 32L at RJOO Osaka International Airport was made from the southeast, with a heading of 315.0 degrees at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 32L, which had a length of 3,001 meters. The threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 133 knots. The touchdown point was 183 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 124 knots, which was a little fast. However, the touchdown rate was good at -163 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.7 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 288 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 1,604 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 5 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 227 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 46 minutes. The aircraft used a total of 5,286 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft successfully landed at RJOO Osaka International Airport, with a final approach score of 97.2%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the southeast, heading 315.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,252 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was executed on runway 32L, which has a length of 3,001 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 133 knots. The touchdown point was 183 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 124 knots was a little faster than desired, but the touchdown rate of -163 feet per minute (fpm) was considered good.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 3.7 meters, which may have been due to the aircraft's approach path or the pilot's control inputs. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 18°C, a wind speed of 4 knots from 288°, and a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,604 meters was 53% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. The runway rollout alignment was reported as very good, indicating that the aircraft was well-controlled during the rollout phase and did not deviate significantly from the centerline. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and rolling out without incident.
