Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 152 m above the runway. The 305 m gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,207 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 778 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 6 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The Airbus A320 then departed from runway 19 at GCFV Fuerteventura Airport, with a takeoff distance of 1,517 meters, which accounted for 78% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 157 knots, and the local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 22°C and no wind.
As the aircraft climbed out of Fuerteventura Airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile south of the airport and El Matorral. The climb took 12 minutes to reach an altitude of 9,361 meters, an increase of 9,061.3 meters, and covered a distance of 58 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then began 45 miles west of El Cotillo, lasting 7 minutes and covering 44 nautical miles.
The enroute descent started 31 miles north of Galdar, and the aircraft descended from 9,453 meters to 427 meters, a decrease of 9,026.2 meters, in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 109 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 36 at GCLA La Palma Airport was made from the south, with a heading of 360.0° at 4 nautical miles and 398.5 meters above ground level.
The landing on runway 36 at GCLA La Palma Airport was successful, with a total landing distance of 1,423 meters, which accounted for 64% of the runway. The touchdown point was 366 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 127 knots, which was good. The touchdown rate was smooth at -0.5 meters per second. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.0 meters from the centerline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, a process that took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 219 nautical miles, and the flight took 51 minutes, using 2,043 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at GCLA La Palma Airport, achieving an overall score of 85.4%. The aircraft was approaching the runway from the south, heading 360.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 398.5 meters above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 36, which has a length of 2,207 meters.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 366 meters beyond the touchdown zone, with a speed of 127 knots, which is considered good. The touchdown rate was also smooth, at -0.5 meters per second. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 9.0 meters. This minor deviation from the centerline may have been due to factors such as wind or pilot error.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and no wind. This suggests that the landing was not affected by any adverse weather conditions. The total landing distance was 1,423 meters, which is 64% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a reasonable distance.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 12.3 meters. This minor deviation from the centerline may have been due to factors such as pilot error or the aircraft's braking system. Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft coming to a stop within a reasonable distance and without any major issues. However, there is room for improvement in terms of aligning the aircraft with the centerline during both the touchdown and rollout phases.
