Settle the descent rate
Preparing for a stable approach will give you time to decide on whether to attempt the landing or going around. Too much altitude with a high sink rate will result in carrying too much speed onto the runway. Configuring flaps and the gear late also won't help the speed decay.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: seven checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out. These checks are the approach's score.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate 1,290 ft/m, more than the glideslope needed.

Side view — the last 960 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 960 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 315 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The TBM 850 departed KLGA LaGuardia Airport on runway 31, achieving liftoff after a takeoff roll of 569 m, which represented 27 % of the available runway. The aircraft left the ground at 90 kt while the local weather reported a temperature of 16 °C, wind 2 kt from 269°, with a 1 kt cross-wind component and a 2 kt head-wind component.
During the initial climb the airplane rose from 565 ft asl to 2 381 ft asl, gaining 1 816 ft in 2 minutes while covering 6 nm over the KLGA vicinity.
A brief level cruise followed over Hunts Point, lasting 2 minutes and extending the flight by another 6 nm.
The first descent began over Gramercy Park, where the aircraft descended from 2 416 ft asl to 281 ft asl, a loss of 2 135 ft in 3 minutes while traversing 11 nm.
A second climb commenced 1 mile south of KEWR Newark Liberty International Airport, climbing from 279 ft asl to 8 970 ft asl, an increase of 8 691 ft in 6 minutes and covering 19 nm.
The aircraft then entered a level cruise segment over Fort Hamilton that lasted 11 minutes and added 45 nm to the flight path.
A subsequent descent started 1 mile north of Darien, Connecticut, with the airplane descending from 9 270 ft asl to 932 ft asl, a reduction of 8 337 ft in 4 minutes while covering 13 nm.
On final approach to runway 29 at KHPN Westchester County Airport, the aircraft descended from 1 694 ft agl to 51 ft agl in 85 seconds, meeting the stabilisation gate criteria.
Landing on runway 29 was completed with a threshold speed of 94 kt, a touchdown distance of 315 m, a touchdown speed of 70 kt, and a touchdown rate of minus 218 fpm; the total landing distance recorded was 471 m, representing 49 % of the 960 m runway, and runway touchdown alignment was described as very good.
The rollout after touchdown maintained very good alignment, and the aircraft taxied to the parking area in 1 minute, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 103 nm, required 33 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 98 kg of fuel.
The TBM 850 performed the final approach to runway 29 at KHPN, descending from 1,694 ft AGL to 51 ft AGL in 85 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates.
Threshold height was good and the threshold speed was recorded at 94 kt, both meeting the expected values.
Touchdown was achieved 315 m down the runway at 70 kt, both rated good; the vertical touchdown rate was -218 fpm, rated fair, and runway touchdown alignment was very good.
Rollout alignment remained very good, with a total landing distance of 471 m, representing 49 % of the 960 m runway.
Further refinement should target a lower vertical touchdown rate to produce a smoother landing and potentially reduce the landing distance, while preserving the current speed and alignment performance.
