MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
At the 1,000 ft gate: off the runway's 3° glideslope.
At the 500 ft gate: sink rate above what the glideslope needed and off the runway's 3° glideslope.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 9,812 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,153 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
A Vision Jet aircraft took off from runway 08 at the Albuquerque International Sunport, taxiing for 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile. The takeoff distance required 3,244 feet, which is approximately 25% of the runway length. The aircraft reached liftoff speed of 94 knots after the departure roll.
The local weather at the time of departure was pleasant with a temperature of 76 degrees Fahrenheit and wind blowing at 8 knots from 220 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 6 knots and a tailwind of 5 knots, affecting the aircraft's performance.
The enroute climb began 1 mile east of the Albuquerque International Sunport and lasted for 21 minutes, during which the aircraft climbed from 6,385 feet above sea level to 31,616 feet, an increase of 25,231 feet. This climb covered a distance of 42 nautical miles.
Once the enroute climb reached its end, the aircraft entered a level cruise, which started 5 miles east of Galisteo, New Mexico. This cruise continued for 60 minutes, covering a distance of 309 nautical miles. As the aircraft continued its journey, it eventually started its descent from a height of 31,987 feet above sea level to 2,618 feet, a decrease of 29,369 feet, covering a distance of 92 nautical miles within 23 minutes.
Another short level cruise was initiated 1 mile north of 76OK Odom's Roost Airport in Newcastle, Oklahoma, and lasted only 2 minutes, covering 3 nautical miles. Shortly after, the aircraft began its final approach to runway 35R at the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City, which would conclude the journey.
The final approach was conducted from the south, with a heading of 2.0 degrees, approximately 2 nautical miles from the threshold, and at an altitude of 1,057 feet above ground level.
The Vision Jet landed safely on runway 35R, which is 9,812 feet long, and the aircraft's touchdown speed was higher than expected at 78 knots. However, the touchdown distance was manageable at 1,104 feet and the touchdown rate was good at -195 feet per minute.
Although the runway touchdown position was significantly misaligned by 50 feet from the centreline, the total landing distance covered 20% of the runway, at 1,961 feet. Upon landing, the aircraft's rollout alignment deviated by 49 feet from the centreline.
Taxiing from the runway to the parking took 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nautical mile. The entire journey spanned 451 nautical miles and lasted 114 minutes, utilizing 735 pounds of fuel.
The Vision Jet has successfully landed at KOKC Will Rogers World Airport, but with some notable areas for improvement. The aircraft approached the runway from the south, heading 2.0° at 2 nautical miles and 1,057 feet above ground level (agl). The landing took place on runway 35R, which measures 9,812 feet in length, providing a safe space for the Vision Jet to touch down.
One of the primary issues with this landing is the significant discrepancy between the threshold height and the target height. The threshold height at 89 feet agl was significantly above the target, indicating that the Vision Jet touched down further down the runway than intended. Additionally, the threshold speed was well above the target, at 83 knots. This may indicate an over-corrective or over-enthusiastic approach by the pilot.
Fortunately, the touchdown distance was good, at 1,104 feet, and the touchdown rate was good at -195 feet per minute (fpm). However, the touchdown speed of 78 knots was fast, which may necessitate further fine-tuning of the approach and landing configuration to improve this aspect. Another issue was the runway touchdown position, which was significantly misaligned by 50 feet from the centreline.
Local weather conditions at the time of the landing comprised a temperature of 73°F and a gentle wind of 4 knots from 140°. Although the crosswind was minimal at 3 knots and the tailwind was also at 3 knots, these factors contributed to the slight misalignment of the runway rollout alignment, which was by 49 feet from the centreline.
Overall, the Vision Jet's landing at KOKC Will Rogers World Airport demonstrates areas for improvement, especially with regards to achieving the target threshold height and threshold speed. However, the Vision Jet's performance in terms of touchdown distance and rate was commendable.
