Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,067 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,067 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 454 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The M500 departed McGhee Tyson Airport (KTYS) on runway 23L, accelerating along the runway for a takeoff distance of 1,544 m, which represented 59 % of the available length, and achieved liftoff at 92 kt. Ambient conditions were 30 °C with a wind from 239° at 9 kt, including a 2 kt cross-wind component and a 9 kt head-wind component.
Climb commenced one mile west of Alcoa, Tennessee, where the aircraft rose from 1,460 ft asl to 2,573 ft asl, an altitude gain of 1,113 ft achieved in one minute while covering two nautical miles.
Cruise began overhead Alcoa and continued for six minutes, during which the aircraft traversed 17 nm at level flight.
Descent was initiated one mile north of Knoxville Downtown Island Airport (KDKX), with the aircraft descending from 2,666 ft asl to 1,038 ft asl, a loss of 1,628 ft over three minutes while covering six nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 26 at KDKX was flown from the east on a heading of 259.0° at zero distance from the threshold and an altitude of 199 ft agl.
Landing on runway 26, which is 1,055 m long, occurred with a threshold height of 95 ft agl that was significantly above the target and a threshold speed of 101 kt, also above the target. Touchdown was recorded at 453 m down the runway with a speed of 90 kt, a vertical speed of minus 223 fpm, and perfect alignment. The total landing distance measured 740 m, representing 70 % of the runway length.
Runway rollout proceeded with very good alignment, completing the deceleration phase after the touchdown distance noted above.
Taxi-in to the parking area required less than one minute and covered less than one nautical mile.
In total, the flight covered 28 nm, lasted 11 minutes, and consumed 20 kg of fuel.
The M500 made a final approach to runway 26 at KDKX Knoxville Downtown Island Airport, tracking a heading of 259.0° while at 0 nm and 199 ft agl. Local weather was 30 °C with a wind of 9 kt from 239°, providing a 2 kt crosswind component and a 9 kt headwind.
At the threshold the aircraft was 95 ft agl, which was significantly above the target height, and the threshold speed was 101 kt, well above the target speed.
Touchdown occurred 453 m down the runway; the aircraft’s speed at touchdown was 90 kt, described as fast, and the vertical rate was minus 223 fpm, rated as fair. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The total landing distance measured 740 m, representing 70 % of the 1,055 m runway, and rollout alignment was very good.
Reduce the approach and threshold speeds to meet the prescribed targets and manage the descent to achieve the intended threshold height; this will lower touchdown speed and improve vertical rate, further enhancing runway utilization.
