Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,946 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,946 m of the 4,065 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 879 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This international flight was operated by a Boeing 777-300 aircraft. The journey began at Miami International Airport (KMIA) where the aircraft taxied from the parking area to the runway for a period of six minutes, covering a distance of four nautical miles.
After clearing the taxiway, the aircraft departed from runway 08R and took off with a takeoff distance of 1,752 meters, which equaled approximately 55% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed at this point was 193 knots (kilometers per hour), assisted by a headwind of 6 knots. The local weather at the departure point consisted of a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 6 knots blowing at 105 degrees.
Following takeoff, the Boeing 777-300 embarked on its enroute climb from 1,084 feet above sea level (asl) to 31,142 feet asl, an increase of 30,058 feet in 16 minutes, covering a distance of 105 nautical miles. The climb stage began approximately one mile south-west of Brownsville, Florida, and concluded approximately 30 nautical miles south-east of West End, West Grand Bahama District, Bahamas.
For the next three minutes, the aircraft entered an enroute level cruise at an altitude of 31,150 feet asl, and covered a distance of 30 nautical miles, beginning 21 miles north of West End. Shortly after, the aircraft commenced another enroute climb at 12 miles north-west of Walkers Cay Airport, Walkers Cay, Grand Cay District, Bahamas, increasing its altitude from 31,150 feet asl to 33,135 feet asl in a span of three minutes, covering a distance of 30 nautical miles.
Subsequently, the Boeing 777-300 entered into an extended enroute level cruise for 215 minutes, traveling a considerable distance of 2,109 nautical miles, located at 40 miles north of MYAW Walkers Cay Airport, Walkers Cay, Grand Cay District, Bahamas.
The next enroute climb stage started at geographical coordinates 46.9687782, -40.2064161, where the aircraft increased its altitude from 33,008 feet asl to 34,699 feet asl in a duration of two minutes, covering a distance of 17 nautical miles.
The next stage of enroute level cruise commenced at geographical coordinates 47.0547982, -39.7785449 and lasted for 221 minutes, covering 1,932 nautical miles.
A subsequent enroute climb phase began 1 mile north-west of Jestetten, Baden-Wurtemberg, Germany and climbed from 35,723 feet asl to 37,395 feet asl, a rise of 1,673 feet in two minutes, covering 13 nautical miles.
The long-haul aircraft then entered an enroute level cruise for 101 minutes, traveling 787 nautical miles, and finishing approximately one mile south of Huttwilen, Kanton Thurgau, Switzerland.
The long journey from Miami International Airport to Istanbul Airport eventually began its descent at geographical coordinates 41.966, 26.113. The Boeing 777-300 descended from 37,249 feet asl to 9,981 feet asl, decreasing by 27,268 feet in 22 minutes, covering 116 nautical miles.
Another enroute level cruise phase occurred for three minutes, covering 15 nautical miles, beginning five miles south of Cerkezkoey, Tekirdag, Turkey.
An enroute descent took place approximately one mile south-west of Marmara Ereglisi, Tekirdag, Turkey and dropped from 9,991 feet asl to 5,022 feet asl, falling 4,970 feet in a span of five minutes, covering 21 nautical miles
The Boeing 777-300 aircraft successfully landed at LTFM İstanbul Airport on runway 35R, achieving an overall score of 84.5%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the south, heading 359.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,303 feet above ground level (agl).
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down 457 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively significant deviation. However, the touchdown speed of 136 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a well-executed approach. The touchdown rate of -224 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been slowed down more efficiently during the landing phase.
The threshold height at 71 feet agl was above the target, which may have contributed to the slightly longer landing distance. Nevertheless, the threshold speed of 144 knots was satisfactory, demonstrating a good control of the aircraft's descent. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 10°C and a headwind of 6 knots, were relatively favorable for the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,859 meters was 46% of the runway length, which is a reasonable figure considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 11.1 meters from the centerline, which may have affected the aircraft's stability during the rollout phase. Similarly, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned, indicating a need for improvement in the aircraft's control during the post-landing phase.
Overall, while the landing was successful, there are areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown zone accuracy and rollout alignment. With some adjustments to the approach and landing techniques, the aircraft can achieve a higher score and a more precise landing.
