Work on the flare
See Arrival Landing
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,492 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 653 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departure from EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde commenced with a roll down runway 23, utilizing 50% of the available length to achieve liftoff. The aircraft, a GA-8 Airvan Commuter Cargopod, accelerated to a liftoff speed of 94 kt, clearing the ground with a minimal takeoff distance of 1,248 meters. Local conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 16 °C and a light wind of 1 kt from 270°, resulting in a negligible crosswind component.
Following a brief enroute level cruise phase, which lasted approximately 1 minute and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles, the aircraft began its descent towards EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde. The final approach was initiated from the south, with the aircraft tracking a heading of 51.0° at an altitude of 99 feet above ground level (agl) and 0 nautical miles from the threshold of runway 05. The landing was executed with a threshold speed of 80 kt, and the touchdown point was located 262 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed of 52 kt was within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -49 feet per minute (fpm) was optimal.
The landing distance of 962 meters, which accounted for 39% of the available runway length, was satisfactory. Runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating a high degree of control and stability during the landing phase. The total flight distance of 3 nautical miles was completed in 5 minutes, resulting in a fuel consumption of -68 kg. Local conditions at the time of landing featured a temperature of 15 °C and a light wind of 1 kt from 270°, resulting in a negligible tailwind component.
The final approach to runway 05 at EHGG Groningen Airport Eelde from the south was executed with a heading of 51.0° at 0 nm and 99 ft above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a threshold height of 78 ft above ground level, which was well above the target. The threshold speed was good at 80 kt, indicating a well-controlled descent.
As the aircraft touched down 262 m beyond the touchdown zone, the touchdown speed of 52 kt was good, and the touchdown rate of -49 fpm was perfect, demonstrating a smooth and controlled touchdown. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 3.6 m from the centreline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15 °C and a wind of 1 kt at 270°, contributed to a negligible crosswind and tailwind of 1 kt each.
The total landing distance of 962 m, which accounted for 39% of the runway length, was acceptable. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating a well-controlled and stable aircraft during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing performance scored 88.2%, reflecting a satisfactory execution of the landing procedure.
