Improve the takeoff
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,194 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 706 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 13 minutes and covered a distance of 4 nautical miles. The aircraft, an Airbus A321, then departed from runway 26R at Leipzig/Halle Airport, EDDP. The takeoff distance was 1,887 meters, which accounted for 53% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 169 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 7 knots at 230 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 6 knots. The enroute climb started approximately 1 mile west of EDDP Leipzig/Halle Airport Schkeuditz, where the aircraft climbed from 1,436 feet above sea level to 33,200 feet above sea level, an increase of 31,764 feet in 23 minutes, covering a distance of 153 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 2 miles south of Braunfels, Germany, and lasted for 106 minutes, covering a distance of 770 nautical miles. The aircraft then underwent another enroute climb, this time from 33,210 feet above sea level to 34,817 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,607 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 16 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 5 miles north of Mombuey, Spain, and lasted for 21 minutes, covering a distance of 482 nautical miles.
The aircraft then underwent another enroute climb, this time from 34,872 feet above sea level to 36,780 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,908 feet in 2 minutes, covering a distance of 61 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 34 miles north of Buenavista del Norte, Canary Islands, Spain, and lasted for 14 minutes, covering a distance of 393 nautical miles.
As the aircraft began its descent, it started from 34 miles north of Buenavista del Norte and descended from 36,727 feet above sea level to 2,176 feet above sea level, a decrease of 34,551 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 66 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise resumed 11 miles east of El Medano, Canary Islands, Spain, and lasted for 4 minutes, covering a distance of 9 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 25 at Tenerife Sur Airport, GCTS, was from the east, heading 249.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,291 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 25 was successful, with a touchdown point 292 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 138 knots, which was good, while the touchdown rate was fair at -223 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 25 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 13 knots at 230 degrees. The crosswind was 4 knots, while the headwind was 12 knots. The total landing distance was 1,380 meters, which accounted for 43% of the runway. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 12.8 meters from the centerline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 1,961 nautical miles, taking 209 minutes, and the aircraft used 13,531 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A321 successfully landed at GCTS Tenerife Sur Airport, achieving a score of 93.0%. The aircraft approached the runway from the east, heading 249.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,291 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was made to runway 25, which has a length of 3,194 meters.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft's threshold height was good, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 150 knots. The touchdown point was located 292 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 138 knots was within the acceptable range, indicating a smooth and controlled landing. However, the touchdown rate of -223 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more gently.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 25°C and a moderate headwind of 12 knots from a direction of 230°. The crosswind component was relatively light at 4 knots, which made the landing process easier. The total landing distance of 1,380 meters was 43% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the aircraft's size and weight.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment with the runway centerline was slightly off by 12.8 meters. This deviation is not significant and can be attributed to minor variations in the aircraft's braking performance or the pilot's control inputs. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft came to a stop within a reasonable distance from the runway threshold.
