Reduce your height at the threshold
Even a modest height error carries straight through to the touchdown. Geometry alone says that crossing the threshold 10 feet high on a 3° path moves your touchdown roughly 190 feet further down the runway before the flare adds anything.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,708 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 735 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A320 taxied from the parking area to runway 17R at LIMC Milan Malpensa International Airport, covering 3 nm in 17 minutes.
During the departure roll on runway 17R, the aircraft used 2,294 m of runway, representing 60 % of the available length, and lifted off at 163 kt. Local conditions were 26 deg C with a wind of 9 kt from 319 deg, a 5 kt cross-wind component and an 8 kt tail-wind component.
Climb commenced 1 mile north-west of Lonate Pozzolo, with the A320 ascending from 1,651 ft asl to 33,608 ft asl - a gain of 31,958 ft - over 18 minutes while covering 108 nm.
The first cruise segment began 1 mile south-west of Tanay, lasting 10 minutes and traversing 75 nm at level flight.
Descent started overhead Biarne, dropping from 33,988 ft asl to 5,012 ft asl - a loss of 28,976 ft - in 25 minutes and covering 138 nm.
A second cruise phase was initiated 1 mile east of Bassevelle, lasting 8 minutes and spanning 26 nm.
The final descent began 1 mile south-east of Douy-la-Ramee, decreasing altitude from 4,673 ft asl to 1,705 ft asl - a reduction of 2,968 ft - in 4 minutes over 10 nm.
On final approach to runway 27R at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport, the aircraft approached from the east on a heading of 264.0 deg, intercepting the glide path at 4 nm and 1,348 ft agl.
Landing on runway 27R, which is 2,700 m long, the threshold height was 88 ft agl and the threshold speed was 154 kt. Touchdown occurred 313 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 141 kt, with a touchdown rate of minus 285 fpm. The touchdown point was offset 15.1 m from the centreline. Weather at the time was 20 deg C with a wind of 13 kt from 240 deg, a 6 kt cross-wind component and a 12 kt head-wind component.
The aircraft rolled out a total landing distance of 1,422 m, representing 53 % of the runway, and the rollout alignment was misaligned by 16.5 m from the centreline.
After landing, the A320 taxied from the runway to the parking area, covering 3 nm in 17 minutes.
In total, the flight covered 369 nm, required 95 minutes of airborne time, and consumed 3,186 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A320 established a final approach to runway 27R at LFPG Charles de Gaulle International Airport on a heading of 264.0 °, 4 nm out and 1,348 ft agl, with ambient temperature 20 °C, wind 13 kt from 240 °, a 6 kt cross-wind component and a 12 kt head-wind component.
At the threshold the aircraft was 88 ft agl, which was significantly above the target height, and the threshold speed was 154 kt, well above the target speed for the approach.
Touchdown occurred 313 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, with a speed of 141 kt that was a little fast and a vertical rate of minus 285 fpm rated as fair. The touchdown point was misaligned by 15.1 m from the centreline, and the total landing distance measured 1,422 m, representing 53 % of the 2,700 m runway length.
During rollout the aircraft remained misaligned, deviating 16.5 m from the centreline before exiting the runway.
To improve future performance, focus on achieving the prescribed threshold height and speed to bring the approach within target parameters, and refine flare timing to place the touchdown within the touchdown zone and maintain centreline alignment through rollout.
