Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,427 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 612 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the aircraft, an Airbus A320, taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Diagoras Airport in Rhodes, Greece. This process took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The departure roll took place on runway 24, and the takeoff distance was 1,899 meters, which accounted for 58% of the runway. The aircraft lifted off at a speed of 162 knots.
As the aircraft climbed, it started at an altitude of 1,037 feet above sea level and reached a maximum altitude of 33,461 feet, an increase of 32,424 feet in 17 minutes. This climb covered a distance of 96 nautical miles. The enroute climb began 1 mile southwest of Diagoras Airport and ended at a point 19 miles northeast of Amorgos, Greece.
The enroute level cruise phase of the flight lasted 23 minutes and covered a distance of 156 nautical miles. This phase started 19 miles northeast of Amorgos and ended 14 miles northwest of Skiros Airport on Skiros Island in Central Greece.
As the aircraft began its descent, it started at an altitude of 33,392 feet above sea level and reached a final altitude of 1,311 feet, a decrease of 32,082 feet in 27 minutes. This descent covered a distance of 106 nautical miles. The final approach to runway 10 at Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 104.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,278 feet above ground level.
The landing took place on runway 10, which had a length of 3,427 meters. The threshold height was above the target, and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 145 knots. The touchdown point was 199 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 141 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -277 feet per minute. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, a wind speed of 2 knots at 65 degrees, with a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,389 meters, which accounted for 41% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.3 meters from the centerline.
After landing, the aircraft taxiied to the parking area, a process that took 4 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 366 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 81 minutes. The aircraft used 2,997 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at LGTS Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport, but with some minor deviations from the ideal landing parameters. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 104.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,278 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 10, which has a length of 3,427 meters.
The threshold height at 65 feet agl was above the target, indicating that the aircraft was slightly higher than desired when reaching the runway threshold. Additionally, the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 145 knots, suggesting that the aircraft was slightly faster than required when reaching the threshold. The touchdown point was 199 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation.
The touchdown speed of 141 knots was a little fast, indicating that the aircraft could have benefited from a slightly gentler touchdown. However, the touchdown rate of -277 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair, suggesting that the aircraft was able to slow down relatively quickly after touchdown. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 5.3 meters from the centerline, which may have required some corrective action from the pilots.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 10°C and a wind speed of 2 knots at 65°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 2 knots. The total landing distance was 1,389 meters, which is approximately 41% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 14.3 meters from the centerline, which may have required some additional control from the pilots to maintain alignment.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal parameters. The pilots demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft, but there is room for improvement in terms of touchdown speed and alignment.
