Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 651 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 651 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 16 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Kodiak 100 departed from runway 14 at EDYR Ehingen-Schlechtenfeld, employing a takeoff run of 185 m which represented 89 % of the available runway. Liftoff was achieved at 69 kt. Ambient conditions were 15 °C with a wind from 270° at 2 kt, a crosswind component of 1 kt and a tailwind component of 1 kt.
Climb commenced overhead EDYR Rottenacker, the aircraft ascending from 2,108 ft asl to 2,719 ft asl - a gain of 611 ft - in 1 minute while covering 3 nm.
Level cruise began 1 mile north-east of Rottenacker and persisted for 5 minutes, during which 13 nm were traversed.
Descent was initiated over Illerrieden, the flight descending from 2,729 ft asl to 1,756 ft asl - a loss of 973 ft - in 3 minutes and spanning 6 nm.
The final approach to runway 26 at EDNW Weißenhorn Airfield was executed from the east on a heading of 260.0°, beginning at 0 nm and 104 ft agl. The aircraft reduced altitude from 345 ft agl to 10 ft agl within 30 seconds and met the stabilisation gate criteria.
Landing occurred on runway 26, whose length is 651 m. The threshold height was satisfactory and the threshold speed of 53 kt was well below the target. Touchdown was recorded 12 m down the runway at 52 kt with a vertical speed of minus 276 fpm, and alignment at touchdown was very good. Local weather remained 15 °C with a wind from 270° at 2 kt, a headwind component of 2 kt and no crosswind. The total landing distance measured 336 m, representing 52 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was noted as very good, confirming a controlled deceleration to a stop.
In total, the flight covered 23 nm, required 10 minutes of elapsed time, and consumed 23 kg of fuel.
The Kodiak 100 approached runway 26 at EDNW Weißenhorn Airfield on a final heading of 260.0° from the east, entering the final approach at 0 nm and 104 ft agl. The aircraft descended from 345 ft agl to 10 ft agl in 30 seconds and was scored on the stabilisation gates, achieving a final approach score of 69.3 %.
At threshold the height was good and the aircraft crossed the threshold at 53 kt, a speed noted as well below the target with a reminder to take care not to stall. The descent continued smoothly through the flare zone, maintaining the profile described.
Touchdown occurred 12 m beyond the threshold at a speed of 52 kt, which was judged good. The vertical rate at touchdown was -276 fpm, rated fair, and runway-touchdown alignment was very good. The total landing distance measured 336 m, representing 52 % of the 651 m runway.
Rollout proceeded with very good alignment along the runway centreline, completing the landing within the available runway length.
Maintain approach speed closer to the target to reduce the risk of an underspeed condition at threshold, and manage the descent profile to achieve a less aggressive vertical rate at touchdown for a smoother landing.
