Improve the taxi
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 899 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 899 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 272 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 1 minute and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Cessna C172, then departed from runway 29 at FMNC Mananara Nord Airport. The takeoff distance was 300 meters, which accounted for 24% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 60 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 15°C, with no wind at 306°. The aircraft climbed to a height of 1,996 feet above sea level, an increase of 1,255 feet from the initial height of 741 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering a distance of 9 nautical miles. This climb phase started overhead FMNC Mananara Nord Airport.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which began 7 miles north of FMX7 Antanambe. This phase lasted for 6 minutes and covered a distance of 28 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its descent, which started overhead FMAD Ambodiatafa Airport. The descent phase saw a decrease in altitude from 1,403 feet to 293 feet above sea level, a drop of 1,110 feet, in just 3 minutes and covering less than 1 nautical mile.
The final approach to runway 25 at FMAD Ambodiatafa Airport was made from the north-east, with a heading of 236.0° at an altitude of 266 feet above ground level. The landing was executed with a threshold speed that was slightly below the target speed of 64 knots. The touchdown distance was good, at 269 meters, and the touchdown speed was also within acceptable limits, at 51 knots. The touchdown rate was smooth, at -150 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline, by 3.6 meters. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were similar to those at departure, with a temperature of 15°C and no wind. The total landing distance was 492 meters, which accounted for 55% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
In conclusion, the flight covered a total distance of 41 nautical miles, taking approximately 18 minutes to complete. The aircraft used 13 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Cessna C172 aircraft successfully landed at FMAD Ambodiatafa Airport, achieving a high score of 98.9%. The final approach to runway 25 was conducted from the north east, with a heading of 236.0° at an altitude of 266 feet above ground level (agl) and a distance of 0 nautical miles from the runway.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 64 knots, which was slightly below the target threshold speed. However, this did not affect the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown distance of 269 meters was considered good, and the touchdown speed of 51 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -150 feet per minute (fpm) was smooth, indicating a controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 3.6 meters, which may require some adjustments in the approach or landing technique to achieve a more precise alignment. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 0 knots from 321°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and headwind, making the landing even more challenging.
The total landing distance of 492 meters was 55% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. This indicates that the pilot was able to maintain a high level of control and precision throughout the landing. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot was able to maintain control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and bring it to a stop safely.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft touching down safely and coming to a stop within a short distance. The slight misalignment from the centreline and the slightly below-target threshold speed were minor issues that did not affect the overall outcome of the landing.
