MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,499 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 254 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Beechcraft Duke, then departed from runway 28 at FNUB Lubango Airport. The takeoff distance was 674 meters, which accounted for 21% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 90 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 14 knots at 340 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 14 knots and a headwind of 4 knots. The aircraft began its enroute climb 1 mile west of FNUB Lubango Airport, rising from an altitude of 6,814 feet above sea level to 11,793 feet above sea level, an increase of 4,979 feet in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 6 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started 4 miles east of FNUB Lubango Airport and lasted for 66 minutes, covering a distance of 200 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent 19 miles southeast of FNMG Cuchi Airport, Menongue, Angola, descending from 12,370 feet above sea level to 8,233 feet above sea level, a decrease of 4,137 feet in 5 minutes and covering a distance of 18 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise started again 17 miles west of Menongue and lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 6 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent 12 miles west of Menongue, descending from 8,231 feet above sea level to 5,695 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,536 feet in 4 minutes and covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13 at FNME Menongue Airport was made from the northwest, with the aircraft heading 119.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,032 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 13 was successful, with the touchdown distance being good at 254 meters. The touchdown speed was 77 knots, which was good, and the touchdown rate was smooth at -147 feet per minute.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 4.6 meters from the centerline. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 3 knots at 94 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 2 knots. The total landing distance was 975 meters, which accounted for 28% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight ended with taxiing to the parking from the runway, which took 1 minute and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 247 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 81 minutes. The aircraft used 186 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The Beechcraft Duke aircraft successfully landed at FNME Menongue Airport, achieving a score of 98.5%. The final approach to runway 13 was conducted from the north-west, with a heading of 119.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,032 feet above ground level.
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a speed of 88 kt, which was slightly below the target threshold speed. However, the touchdown distance of 254 meters was considered good, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The touchdown speed of 77 kt was also within acceptable limits, and the touchdown rate of -147 feet per minute was smooth, suggesting a gentle impact on the runway.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centreline by 4.6 meters, which may require some adjustments in the approach or landing technique to achieve a more precise alignment. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were favorable, with a temperature of 17°C and a gentle wind of 3 kt at 94°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 kt, while the headwind component was 2 kt, which may have contributed to the smooth touchdown.
The total landing distance of 975 meters was 28% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing roll. The runway rollout alignment was very good, suggesting that the aircraft was well under control during the landing roll and that the pilot was able to maintain a stable and aligned path.
Overall, the landing was considered successful, with the aircraft achieving a high score and demonstrating good control and precision during the approach and landing phases.
