Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,624 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,624 m of the 3,987 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 659 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight involved an Airbus A320 aircraft taking off from Latvia Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa. The aircraft started to taxi from the parking to the runway, which took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. Once cleared for takeoff, the aircraft rolled down runway 35, covering 1,252 meters, which is 45% of the total runway length, and achieved a liftoff speed of 161 knots. At the time of departure, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 31 °C, wind at 9 knots from a direction of 309°, resulting in a crosswind of 6 knots and a headwind of 6 knots.
Following takeoff, the enroute climb started about 1 mile north of the airport and proceeded at an increase of 37,789 feet in 30 minutes, covering a distance of 198 nautical miles. The climb ended at an altitude of 38,920 feet, which marked the beginning of the enroute level cruise segment. This occurred southeast of Sipovo in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and lasted for 16 minutes, covering a similar distance of 222 nautical miles.
As the flight continued, the enroute start descent began about 1 mile north of Ramingstein in Salzburg, Austria. Within a period of 14 minutes, the aircraft descended from an altitude of 38,967 feet to 2,751 feet, a decrease of 36,216 feet, covering a distance of 109 nautical miles. The aircraft then proceeded into its final approach to runway 26L at Munich Airport, approaching the airport from the east at a heading of 264.0°, with the aircraft's altitude at 4 nautical miles from the airport at 1,273 feet above ground level.
Upon landing, the aircraft touched down beyond the threshold height, which was 69 feet above ground level, but maintained a target speed of 135 knots. The touchdown speed of 125 knots was deemed to be satisfactory, while the touchdown rate of -241 feet per minute was considered fair. The runway touchdown alignment was reported to be very good. Local weather conditions for the approach and landing were characterized by a temperature of 23 °C, wind at 6 knots from a direction of 290°, resulting in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 5 knots.
Following the successful landing, the aircraft came to a stop on the runway, covering a distance of 1,540 meters, which is 39% of the total runway length. The aircraft's runway rollout alignment was described as being perfect. Subsequent to the landing, the aircraft took 2 minutes to taxi to the parking, covering less than 1 nautical mile. Overall, the flight's distance was 537 nautical miles, and it lasted for 1 hour and 11 minutes, utilizing 4,111 kilograms of fuel.
A comprehensive report on the Airbus A320 landing at Munich Airport (EDDM) has been compiled based on the provided details. The aircraft successfully completed its final approach to runway 26L from the east, at a heading of 264.0° and at an altitude of 1,273 ft (389.6 meters) at 4 nautical miles (7.4 kilometers) from the runway threshold.
Upon analyzing the approach and landing performance, the aircraft scored 91.1% - an excellent score that showcases its exceptional handling capabilities. The threshold height at 69 ft (21 meters) agl was above the target, which could have added some complexity to the landing process. However, the crew navigated the situation effectively, as the touchdown speed of 135 kt was well within the acceptable limits. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 125 kt was good and within the expected range, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The touch point distance from the touchdown zone was 239 meters, which falls beyond the recommended limit, but the landing was still declared fair in terms of the overall result. Nevertheless, the runway touchdown alignment was highly appreciated, showing that the crew ensured the aircraft properly aligned with the runway upon touching down. Taking the current local weather into account, the aircraft experienced a headwind of 5 knots and a crosswind of 3 knots, while the wind direction was at 290° and temperature at 23°C. These conditions would not have unduly affected the aircraft's handling.
Further examining the performance, the total landing distance of 1,540 meters, accounting for 39% of the available runway length, suggests the aircraft's ability to control the landing and deceleration phases. This is especially true considering the runway length of 3,987 meters, providing sufficient stopping distance for the aircraft. Finally, after touching down, the aircraft maintained perfect rollout alignment on the runway, indicating successful operation of the brakes and consistent deceleration.
