MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,986 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 504 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Honda HA420 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, a process that took 8 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. The aircraft then departed from runway 04R, with a takeoff distance of 801 meters, which accounted for 27% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 125 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 9 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 10 knots at 340 degrees. The crosswind was 9 knots, while the headwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started over LFMN Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport, where the aircraft ascended from 1,060 feet above sea level to 9,681 feet above sea level, an increase of 8,621 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 8 nautical miles.
The enroute level cruise began 3 miles south of Cap-d'Ail, lasting 3 minutes and covering 7 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began another climb, this time from 9,676 feet above sea level to 42,009 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,333 feet in 20 minutes, covering a distance of 99 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then resumed 1 mile south east of Saint-Barthelemy-de-Sechilienne, lasting a significant 65 minutes and covering 420 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began its descent over Ticehurst, England, where it descended from 41,957 feet above sea level to 25,738 feet above sea level, a decrease of 16,219 feet in 9 minutes, covering a distance of 56 nautical miles. The enroute level cruise then started again over Binfield Heath, lasting 2 minutes and covering 11 nautical miles. However, the aircraft soon began its final descent, this time from 25,740 feet above sea level to 1,509 feet above sea level, a decrease of 24,231 feet in 22 minutes, covering a distance of 83 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 12 at EGFF Cardiff International Airport was made from the west, with the aircraft heading 117.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,292 feet above ground level. The landing was successful, with the touchdown point being 77 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 96 knots, but the touchdown rate was perfect at -26 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, and the runway rollout alignment was also excellent.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were 6 degrees Celsius and a wind speed of 18 knots at 70 degrees. The crosswind was 13 knots, while the headwind was also 13 knots. The total landing distance was 1,076 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The total flight distance was 692 nautical miles, taking a total of 140 minutes and using 784 kilograms of fuel. The aircraft then taxied to the parking area, a process that took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile.
The Honda HA420 aircraft successfully landed at EGFF Cardiff International Airport, achieving a score of 96.1%. The final approach to runway 12 was initiated from the west, with a heading of 117.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,292 feet above ground level.
The aircraft demonstrated good control during the approach, with a threshold height that met the required standards. The threshold speed was also satisfactory at 105 knots, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. However, the touchdown speed of 96 knots was slightly faster than the ideal, which may have contributed to a slightly longer landing distance.
The touchdown point was located 77 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown rate of -26 feet per minute was perfect, indicating a controlled and stable descent. The runway touchdown alignment was also very good, suggesting that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the landing.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 6°C and winds of 18 knots at 70°. The crosswind and headwind components were both 13 knots, which may have contributed to the slightly faster touchdown speed. Despite these conditions, the aircraft demonstrated good control and stability during the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,076 meters was 54% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the aircraft demonstrated good control and stability throughout the approach and landing phases.
