Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,726 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,726 m of the 3,701 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 566 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 5 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, then departed from runway 26 at LTFG Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport. The takeoff distance was 1,241 meters, which accounted for 62% of the runway. The liftoff speed was 161 knots.
The local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 7 knots at 240 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 3 knots and a headwind of 7 knots. The aircraft then began its enroute climb, starting 2 miles west of LTFG Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport, and climbed from an altitude of 1,064 feet above sea level to 35,189 feet above sea level, an increase of 34,125 feet, in 20 minutes and covering 121 nautical miles.
Following the enroute climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise, starting 5 miles south of Atabey (Isparta, Turkey), and lasted for 90 minutes, covering 652 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its enroute descent, starting 1 mile west of Olari (Arad, Romania), and descended from 34,644 feet above sea level to 5,524 feet above sea level, a decrease of 29,121 feet, in 31 minutes and covering 129 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise, starting 1 mile west of Leanyfalu (Pest megye, Hungary), and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles. The aircraft then began its final descent, starting overhead Csobanka (Pest megye, Hungary), and descended from 5,174 feet above sea level to 1,723 feet above sea level, a decrease of 3,451 feet, in 5 minutes and covering 13 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 13L at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport was made from the north-west, heading 133.0 degrees at 4 nautical miles and 1,266 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 13L was successful, with a touchdown point 151 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was 134 knots, which was good, but the touchdown rate was fair at -280 feet per minute.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 146 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 1 knot and a headwind of 4 knots. The total landing distance was 1,645 meters, which accounted for 44% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was misaligned by 24.1 meters from the centreline.
The taxiing period from the runway to the parking took 3 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 928 nautical miles, taking 157 minutes, and the aircraft used 5,977 kilograms of fuel.
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, with a score of 84.5%. The final approach to runway 13L was initiated from the north-west, heading 133.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,266 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on the runway with a good threshold height and a threshold speed of 142 knots, which is within the acceptable range. However, the touchdown point was 151 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight deviation from the intended landing spot. The touchdown speed of 134 knots was also within the acceptable range, but the touchdown rate of -280 feet per minute (fpm) was only fair, suggesting that the aircraft could have been brought down more smoothly.
One of the notable issues with this landing was the significant misalignment of the runway touchdown position, which was off-centerline by 24.5 meters. This could have been due to various factors, including wind conditions or pilot error. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were relatively calm, with a temperature of 29°C and a wind speed of 4 knots at 146°. The crosswind component was minimal, at 1 knot, while the headwind component was 4 knots.
The total landing distance of 1,645 meters was 44% of the runway length, which is within the acceptable range. However, the runway rollout alignment was also misaligned by 24.1 meters from the centerline, indicating that the aircraft did not come to a complete stop on the runway in a straight line. Overall, while the landing was successful, there were some areas for improvement, particularly in terms of touchdown point accuracy and runway alignment.
