MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with six checks at 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,310 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 507 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Boeing 777-200ER taxied from the parking area to runway 05L at RCTP Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in 6 minutes, covering 2 nm.
During the departure roll on runway 05L, the aircraft used 1,642 m of runway, representing 45 % of the available length, and lifted off at 165 kt; ambient temperature was 29 °C with a wind of 9 kt from 49°, giving a headwind component of 9 kt and zero cross-wind.
The initial climb began overhead RCTP, climbing from 1,035 ft asl to 34,667 ft asl, an altitude gain of 33,632 ft achieved in 27 minutes while covering 189 nm.
Level cruise commenced at latitude 26.6625684, longitude 124.0056807 and continued for 272 minutes, during which 2,452 nm were flown.
A subsequent climb segment started at latitude 51.3819935, longitude 165.7576063, rising from 34,988 ft asl to 36,991 ft asl, a gain of 2,002 ft in 3 minutes over 30 nm.
The aircraft then cruised from latitude 51.5191343, longitude 166.5803988 for 166 minutes, covering 1,421 nm.
A further climb began at latitude 51.6375942, longitude -155.0724341, increasing altitude from 37,038 ft asl to 38,996 ft asl, a rise of 1,959 ft in 3 minutes across 27 nm.
Cruise continued from latitude 51.5342505, longitude -154.3378672 for 224 minutes, during which 1,893 nm were traversed.
Descent commenced 4 miles south of Topanga, California, descending from 38,996 ft asl to 6,380 ft asl, a loss of 32,616 ft in 17 minutes while covering 108 nm.
A brief level segment followed 2 miles west of La Mesa, California, lasting 2 minutes and spanning 5 nm.
The next descent started overhead Spring Valley, California, dropping from 5,876 ft asl to 1,505 ft asl, a decrease of 4,371 ft in 4 minutes over 12 nm.
Final approach to runway 27 at KSAN San Diego International Airport was executed from the east on a heading of 286.0°, beginning 4 nm out at 1,476 ft agl; the aircraft then descended from 1,537 ft agl to 22 ft agl in 103 seconds and met the stabilisation gate criteria.
Landing on runway 27, whose length is 2,310 m, was achieved with a threshold speed of 133 kt; touchdown occurred 90 m beyond the touchdown zone at 130 kt, with a vertical speed of minus 218 fpm and perfect runway alignment. Ambient temperature was 24 °C, wind 2 kt from 0°, providing a headwind component of 1 kt and a cross-wind of 2 kt. The total landing roll measured 1,334 m, representing 58 % of the runway.
Runway rollout alignment was assessed as very good.
The aircraft taxied from the runway to the parking area in 2 minutes, covering less than 1 nm.
In total, the flight covered 6,149 nm, lasted 728 minutes, and consumed 85,697 kg of fuel.
The Boeing 777-200ER commenced its final approach to runway 27 at KSAN from the east, tracking a heading of 286.0° at 4 nm and 1,476 ft agl. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope, centreline and speed all within limits, and the aircraft descended from 1,537 ft agl to 22 ft agl in 103 seconds. Local weather was 24 °C with a wind of 2 kt at 0°, including a 2 kt crosswind and 1 kt headwind.
At threshold the height was good and the threshold speed was good at 133 kt. The flare was executed in line with the stabilised approach parameters, preparing the aircraft for touchdown.
Touchdown occurred 90 m beyond the touchdown zone with a touchdown speed of 130 kt, judged good, and a touchdown rate rated fair at minus 218 fpm. Runway touchdown alignment was perfect.
The aircraft rolled out over a total landing distance of 1,334 m, representing 58 % of the 2,310 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good.
To refine the performance, aim to achieve touchdown closer to the designated zone to reduce the overshoot of 90 m, and adjust the flare to lower the vertical speed toward a gentler rate than minus 218 fpm. These minor adjustments should help raise the overall score from the current 78.7 %.
