Smooth the climb
A good takeoff has a defined shape. It also has a defined end. For an airliner that's thrust reduction and acceleration, commonly somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 ft above the airfield depending on the operator, while for a light aircraft it's established at Vy with the flaps on schedule. Most simmers have no defined end to their takeoff, which is exactly why it never gets judged.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.

Side view — the last 1,268 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,268 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 140 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 31 at Islay Airport, EGPI. The aircraft, an Aeroprakt A-32 Vixxen: Pioneer, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 56 kt. The takeoff distance was 146 m, which accounted for 12% of the runway length.
As the aircraft entered the traffic pattern, it followed a right-hand pattern entry from runway 31. The distance covered during this phase was less than 1 nm in just 20 seconds. The right-hand pattern crosswind leg was completed in an even shorter time of 12 seconds, demonstrating the aircraft's agility and responsiveness.
The pilot then initiated a pattern downwind turn, which covered a distance of 1 nm. The angle to the runway was 47.5 degrees, and the turn was completed in a smooth and controlled manner. The downwind leg itself was 2 nm long and took 78 seconds to complete.
As the aircraft approached the base leg, the pilot initiated a turn, which covered a distance of 1 nm and maintained an angle of 47.5 degrees to the runway. The base leg was short, lasting less than 1 nm in 13 seconds. The final turn was also brief, taking 31 seconds to complete.
The final approach to runway 31 was made from the south-east, with the aircraft heading 302.0 degrees at an altitude of 228 ft above ground level (agl) and 0 nm from the runway. The landing was smooth, with the aircraft touching down at a speed of 33 kt and a distance of 137 m. The touchdown rate was perfect at -39 fpm, and the runway touchdown alignment was spot on.
The total landing distance was 172 m, which accounted for 14% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's skill and control. The total flight distance was 6 nm, and the flight took 6 minutes to complete, using a mere 1 kg of fuel.
The Aeroprakt A-32 Vixxen successfully landed at EGPI Islay Airport, showcasing its exceptional performance and handling capabilities. The aircraft approached the runway from the south east, aligning itself with the runway at a heading of 302.0° at a distance of 0 nm and an altitude of 228 ft above ground level (agl). This precise approach was a testament to the pilot's skill and the aircraft's design.
Upon touchdown, the Aeroprakt A-32 Vixxen demonstrated its ability to maintain a stable and controlled descent. The aircraft landed on runway 31, which has a length of 1,268 m, and the threshold height was good, indicating that the pilot had sufficient clearance to touch down safely. The threshold speed of 45 kt was also met, further emphasizing the pilot's expertise.
The touchdown distance of 137 m was impressive, considering the runway's length, and the touchdown speed of 33 kt was well within the acceptable range. The touchdown rate of -39 fpm was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to navigate the aircraft with precision.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15 °C and a gentle wind of 2 kt at 270°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 kt, and the headwind was 2 kt, which did not pose any significant challenges to the landing.
The total landing distance of 172 m was an impressive 14% of the runway's length, indicating that the aircraft had sufficient stopping power and the pilot had expertly controlled the descent. The runway rollout alignment was also perfect, demonstrating the pilot's ability to maintain control of the aircraft even after touchdown.
Overall, the Aeroprakt A-32 Vixxen's landing at EGPI Islay Airport was a testament to its exceptional performance and the pilot's skill. The aircraft's ability to navigate challenging weather conditions and maintain a stable and controlled descent made for a smooth and safe landing.
