Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,744 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,744 m of the 3,373 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 569 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the Airbus A320 taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport, taking 7 minutes and covering a distance of 2 nautical miles. Departure roll took place on runway 11, with a takeoff distance of 1,584 meters, which is 50% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 151 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 16°C temperature and a wind speed of 4 knots at 310°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind was 4 knots. The enroute climb started overhead Cilipi, Croatia, where the aircraft ascended from 1,568 feet above sea level to 33,630 feet above sea level, an increase of 32,063 feet in 17 minutes, covering a distance of 94 nautical miles.
Following the initial climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, starting 15 miles south of Komiza, Croatia. This phase lasted for 52 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 372 nautical miles. The enroute descent phase began 38 miles southeast of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France, where the aircraft descended from 33,229 feet above sea level to 4,909 feet above sea level, a decrease of 28,320 feet in 18 minutes, covering a distance of 97 nautical miles.
The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, starting 3 miles east of Mazargues, France, which lasted for 2 minutes, covering a distance of 5 nautical miles. The final descent phase began 2 miles southwest of Mazargues, where the aircraft descended from 4,507 feet above sea level to 1,729 feet above sea level, a decrease of 2,778 feet in 3 minutes, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 31R at Marseille Provence Airport was made from the southeast, heading 314.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,700 feet above ground level. The landing took place on the runway, which has a length of 3,373 meters. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly above the target at 135 knots.
The touchdown point was 153 meters beyond the touchdown zone, and the touchdown speed was 126 knots, which was a little fast. The touchdown rate was fair at -242 feet per minute. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, and the local weather conditions were 13°C temperature and a wind speed of 7 knots at 140°. The crosswind was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind was 7 knots.
The total landing distance was 1,663 meters, which is 49% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was perfect. Taxiing to the parking area from the runway took 7 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 586 nautical miles, taking 108 minutes, and the aircraft used 3,963 kilograms of fuel.
The Airbus A320 successfully landed at LFML Marseille Provence Airport, achieving a high score of 98.5%. The aircraft approached the runway from the southeast, heading 314.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,700 feet above ground level (agl). The final approach was executed with precision, and the aircraft landed on runway 31R, which has a length of 3,373 meters.
The threshold height was satisfactory, but the threshold speed was slightly above the target speed of 135 knots. This minor deviation did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown point was 153 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 126 knots was a bit faster than the ideal speed, but the touchdown rate of -242 feet per minute (fpm) was considered fair.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 13°C and a gentle wind of 7 knots from a direction of 140°. The crosswind component was minimal at 1 knot, while the tailwind component was 7 knots. These conditions contributed to a smooth and stable approach.
The total landing distance of 1,663 meters was 49% of the runway length, which is a relatively efficient use of the available runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft maintained its alignment with the runway during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was executed with precision and control, resulting in a high score of 98.5%.
