Improve the pattern base leg turn
Bank angle in the pattern is conventionally kept to 20 to 30 degrees, and the base-to-final turn is where that convention earns its keep. Stall speed rises with bank because the wing must produce more lift in a turn. Roughly 7 per cent higher at 30 degrees, about 19 per cent at 45, and around 40 per cent at 60. At 65 kt on base you don't have much margin to spend steepening a turn to salvage an overshoot.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 5,207 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 1,407 ft touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Black Square Starship N45FL took off from runway 05 at KBCT Boca Raton Airport, covering a takeoff distance of 3,028 feet, which accounted for 58% of the runway. At the time of takeoff, the local weather conditions were characterized by a temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 16 knots from a direction of 329 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 16 knots and a headwind of 4 knots.
After taking off, the aircraft entered a left-hand pattern, completing the entry in less than 1 nautical mile in 9 seconds. The subsequent crosswind leg was also flown to the left, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in 22 seconds. The downwind leg of the pattern was 2 nautical miles long and took 41 seconds to complete. The base leg turn was 1 nautical mile long and involved a turn of 45 degrees at an angle of 0.6 degrees to the runway.
The final approach to runway 05 was made from the southwest, with the aircraft heading 43.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 232 feet above ground level. The landing on the runway was smooth, with a threshold speed of 111 knots and a touchdown speed of 99 knots. The touchdown distance was 1,409 feet, which was a good distance considering the runway length of 5,207 feet. The touchdown rate was smooth at -106 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit and a wind speed of 15 knots from a direction of 333 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 15 knots and a headwind of 5 knots. The total landing distance was 3,616 feet, which accounted for 69% of the runway. The runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled landing.
The total flight distance was 5 nautical miles, and the flight took 3 minutes to complete. The aircraft used -1 pound of fuel during the flight, indicating a slight decrease in fuel weight.
