MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,989 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 499 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A350-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 28 at LSZH Zürich Airport, covering 2 nm in 6 minutes.
During the departure roll on runway 28, the aircraft reached a liftoff speed of 154 kt, using a takeoff distance of 1,216 m (49 % of runway). Local weather reported a temperature of 35 °C, wind 2 kt at 179 °, crosswind 1 kt and headwind 0 kt.
Climb commenced overhead Rumlang (Kanton Zurich, Switzerland), ascending from 2,359 ft asl to 37,000 ft asl, an increase of 34,641 ft achieved in 16 minutes while covering 99 nm.
The aircraft entered level cruise over Preverenges (Canton de Vaud, Switzerland) and maintained altitude for 27 minutes, traversing 206 nm.
A subsequent climb began 3 miles west of Sausset-les-Pins (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France), rising from 37,002 ft asl to 40,578 ft asl, an increase of 3,576 ft in 5 minutes and covering 41 nm.
Level cruise resumed 42 miles south of Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhone (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France) for 9 minutes, during which 67 nm were flown.
Descent started 33 miles east of Llafranc (Catalunya, Spain), descending from 41,000 ft asl to 1,153 ft asl, a decrease of 39,847 ft completed in 25 minutes over 142 nm.
The final approach to runway 24L at LEPA Palma de Mallorca Airport was flown from the north east, on a heading of 239.0 ° at 4 nm and 1,121 ft agl.
Touchdown occurred on runway 24L, whose length is 2,995 m; the threshold height at 60 ft agl and threshold speed of 137 kt were slightly above target. The aircraft contacted the runway 88 m beyond the touchdown zone at a speed of 132 kt, with a firm touchdown rate of minus 354 fpm and a lateral deviation of 5.4 m from the centreline. Local conditions were temperature 33 °C, wind 7 kt at 240 °, crosswind 0 kt and headwind 7 kt.
The total landing distance recorded was 1,330 m (44 % of runway) and the rollout alignment was very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area in less than 1 nm, a movement that took 2 minutes.
Overall, the flight covered 563 nm, required 92 minutes of elapsed time and consumed 8,089 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A350-900 approached runway 24L at LEPA Palma de Mallorca from the north-east on a heading of 239.0° while 4 NM out and 1,121 ft above ground level, with a temperature of 33 °C, a headwind component of 7 kt from 240°, and no cross-wind.
At the threshold the aircraft passed the 60 ft agl marker slightly above the target height and the threshold speed was slightly above target at 137 kt.
Touchdown occurred 88 m beyond the designated touchdown zone with a speed of 132 kt, described as a little fast, and the aircraft settled with a firm rate of -354 fpm. The touchdown point was slightly misaligned by 5.4 m from the centreline.
The rollout covered a total landing distance of 1,330 m, representing 44 % of the 2,995 m runway, and the runway rollout alignment was very good.
Refine the approach to achieve the exact threshold height and speed targets, and adjust flare timing to place the touchdown within the zone and reduce speed to the intended VREF, which will also improve centreline alignment. These minor adjustments will help convert the already strong 91.1 % score into an even tighter performance.
