Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,230 m of the approach.
Plan view — the full 1,230 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 55 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The XCub aircraft departed from runway 18 at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, covering a takeoff distance of 235 meters, which accounted for 19% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 56 knots. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 21 knots blowing from 244 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 20 knots and a headwind of 9 knots.
As the aircraft entered the left-hand pattern from runway 18, it covered a distance of 1 nautical mile in 32 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind leg was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 19 seconds. The pattern downwind turn involved a distance of 2 nautical miles, with an angle to the runway of 45 degrees and a turn angle of 60.3 degrees. The downwind leg itself covered a distance of 2 nautical miles in 65 seconds.
The pattern base leg turn required a distance of 2 nautical miles, with an angle to the runway of 45 degrees and a turn angle of 58.6 degrees. The base leg covered a distance of 2 nautical miles in 64 seconds. The final turn, which brought the aircraft onto the final approach, was completed in less than 1 nautical mile in 46 seconds.
The final approach to runway 18 was made from the north, with a heading of 179.0 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 377 feet above ground level. The landing on the runway was successful, with a threshold speed that was slightly below the target at 48 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 52 meters, and the touchdown speed was also good at 47 knots. The touchdown rate was excellent at -86 feet per minute, and the runway touchdown alignment was very good.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of 22 knots blowing from 243 degrees. This resulted in a crosswind of 20 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. The total landing distance was 210 meters, which accounted for 17% of the runway length. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.8 meters from the centerline.
The total flight distance was 9 nautical miles, which was completed in 6 minutes. The aircraft used 3 kilograms of fuel during the flight.
The XCub aircraft successfully landed at EDFB Reichelsheim Airfield, achieving a score of 93.4%. The final approach was conducted from the north, heading 179.0° at 1 nautical mile and 377 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 18, which has a length of 1,230 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 48 knots. Despite this, the touchdown distance was good at 52 meters, and the touchdown speed of 47 knots was also within acceptable limits.
The touchdown rate of -86 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, demonstrating a smooth and controlled descent. The runway touchdown alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was properly aligned with the runway centerline at the moment of touchdown.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 5°C, with a wind speed of 22 knots from 243°. This resulted in a crosswind of 20 knots and a headwind of 9 knots. Despite these challenging conditions, the pilot successfully managed the aircraft and maintained control throughout the landing.
The total landing distance was 210 meters, which is only 17% of the runway length. This indicates that the pilot was able to bring the aircraft to a stop quickly and efficiently. However, the runway rollout alignment was slightly misaligned by 7.8 meters from the centerline, which may indicate a slight deviation from the desired path during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, and the pilot demonstrated good control and management of the aircraft in challenging weather conditions.
