Work on the flare
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway. They are the approach's score: the checks passed out of the checks that ran.
At the 1,000 ft gate: speed 5 kt SLOW on the reference speed of 67 kt.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,428 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 155 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Taxiing from the parking area to the runway at Falcone–Borsellino Airport, located in Palermo, Sicilia, Italy, took less than a minute and covered a distance of less than one nautical mile. The aircraft then began its departure roll on runway 07, utilizing 20% of the available runway length of 594 meters to achieve liftoff at a speed of 79 knots. Local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 15°C, with a negligible wind of 1 knot from a direction of 270°.
As the aircraft transitioned to the enroute climb phase, it began ascending from an initial altitude of 989 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 8,954 feet, a vertical increase of 7,965 feet over a distance of 15 nautical miles in 6 minutes. The climb was characterized by a steady rate of ascent, with the aircraft reaching its cruising altitude in a relatively short period. Following a 20-minute level cruise phase, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 61 nautical miles, the enroute descent phase commenced 2 miles south of Agira, Sicilia, Italy. The aircraft descended from 8,993 feet to 2,142 feet above sea level, a decrease of 6,851 feet over a distance of 21 nautical miles in 7 minutes.
The final approach to runway 08 at Catania-Fontanarossa Airport was initiated from the west, with the aircraft maintaining a heading of 84.0° at an altitude of 1,564 feet above ground level and a distance of 4 nautical miles from the threshold. However, a go-around was executed at an altitude of 253 feet above ground level. The aircraft subsequently landed on runway 08, with a touchdown distance of 154 meters and a touchdown speed of 62 knots, both of which were within acceptable limits. The total landing distance was 325 meters, representing 14% of the available runway length. Following a perfect runway rollout alignment, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, completing the flight with a total distance of 149 nautical miles and a fuel consumption of 204 kilograms over a duration of 64 minutes.
The Cessna 208B touched down on runway 08 at LICC Catania-Fontanarossa Airport with a score of 96.9%. The aircraft approached the runway from the west, heading 84.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,564 feet above ground level. The approach quality was satisfactory, with a good threshold height and a threshold speed that was slightly below the target at 62 knots.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft demonstrated good control, with a touchdown distance of 154 meters and a touchdown speed of 62 knots, both of which were within acceptable limits. However, the touchdown rate was hard at -416 feet per minute, indicating a slight loss of control during the landing phase. Despite this, the runway touchdown alignment was perfect, with the aircraft centered on the runway. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot at 269°, contributed to a relatively calm landing environment, with no crosswind or tailwind to contend with.
The aircraft's rollout was smooth and controlled, with perfect alignment on the runway centerline. The total landing distance of 325 meters was 14% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. Overall, the landing was satisfactory, with the aircraft demonstrating good control and alignment throughout the approach, touchdown, and rollout phases.
