Flight Score
Departure
Roll the wings level with aileron and hold bank within limits as you establish the climb.
What happened: Bank increased to 1.9° during the initial climb, and wings stayed over-banked at 2.4° into the next climb segment.
Watch for: Attitude indicator bank angle, aiming to keep it near wings-level
Arrival
Reduce power earlier on final so threshold speed settles at 65 kt instead of carrying it into the flare.
What happened: You crossed the threshold at 101 kt, well above the 65 kt target speed, and that excess speed was still showing at touchdown. Crossing the threshold fast usually carries straight through to a fast touchdown.
Watch for: Airspeed indicator against 65 kt on short final.
Every knot above Vref is stored kinetic energy, and energy stored at the threshold must be dissipated in ground effect before the aeroplane will stop flying. Because kinetic energy scales with the square of speed, the excess you must dissipate grows fast. At a 45-knot approach, five knots hot is over a tenth more speed and roughly a quarter more energy to get rid of in ground effect. This is why the fix is never in the flare. It was decided three miles earlier, on final, at the airspeed indicator.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.

Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 1,562 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 216 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 9 minutes and covered a distance of 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a TBM 930, then departed from runway 33 at Walhalla Municipal Airport, with a takeoff distance of 555 meters, which accounted for 54% of the runway. The liftoff speed was recorded at 94 knots.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions with a temperature of 19°C and wind speeds of 10 knots at a direction of 4°. The crosswind was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind was 10 knots. The enroute climb began overhead Walhalla Municipal Airport, where the aircraft ascended from an initial altitude of 1,978 feet above sea level to a maximum altitude of 29,160 feet, an increase of 27,182 feet in 19 minutes, covering a distance of 51 nautical miles.
Following the climb, the aircraft entered a level cruise phase, which started 3 miles southeast of NA16 Bolseth in North Dakota. This phase lasted for 195 minutes, during which the aircraft covered a distance of 955 nautical miles. The enroute descent began 4 miles north of Winslow West in Arizona, where the aircraft descended from an altitude of 30,201 feet to 5,986 feet, a decrease of 24,215 feet in 21 minutes, covering a distance of 56 nautical miles.
The final approach to runway 03 at KSEZ Sedona Airport was made from the southwest, with a heading of 45.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,239 feet above ground level. The landing on runway 03 was successful, with a touchdown distance of 215 meters and a touchdown speed of 92 knots. However, the threshold speed was recorded as excessively high at 101 knots, while the touchdown speed was also considered excessively fast.
The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 24°C and wind speeds of 7 knots at a direction of 199°. The crosswind was 3 knots, while the tailwind was 7 knots. The total flight distance was 1,068 nautical miles, which was covered in 239 minutes, using a total of 758 kilograms of fuel.
The TBM 930 aircraft successfully landed at KSEZ Sedona Airport, achieving an overall score of 84.9%. The final approach was conducted from the southwest, heading 45.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,239 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft touched down on runway 03, which has a length of 1,562 meters. The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the pilot maintained a suitable altitude during the approach. However, the threshold speed was excessively high at 101 knots, suggesting that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to reduce the touchdown speed.
The touchdown distance of 215 meters was considered good, indicating that the pilot maintained control of the aircraft during the landing. Unfortunately, the touchdown speed of 92 knots was excessively fast, which may have resulted in a higher deceleration rate upon touchdown. The touchdown rate of -100 feet per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating that the pilot was able to smoothly transition the aircraft from flight to ground.
The runway touchdown alignment was very good, suggesting that the pilot maintained a stable and controlled approach. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 24°C and a wind speed of 7 knots from a direction of 199°. The crosswind component was minimal at 3 knots, while the tailwind component was 7 knots, which may have contributed to the high touchdown speed.
Overall, the landing was successful, but there were some areas for improvement, particularly with regards to the threshold speed and touchdown speed. With some adjustments to the approach and landing technique, the pilot may be able to achieve an even higher score in the future.
