Fixing the bounce
Fast at the threshold, normal flare, and the runway seems to refuse the aircraft. The instinctive fix - pushing it on - causes the next one. A fast aircraft forced onto the runway touches nosewheel-first or nearly so. The tell is a touchdown that feels soft followed by a bounce that steepens. Pilots fix the bounce recovery; the cause was the 10 knots at the threshold.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,737 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 270 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with the departure roll from runway 30 at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, EGPK. The aircraft, Sirius, accelerated down the runway, covering a distance of 178 meters, which accounted for 6% of the runway's length. The liftoff speed was achieved at 64 knots, marking the start of the flight.
As the aircraft took to the skies, it encountered local weather conditions of 15 degrees Celsius and a gentle wind of 1 knot at 270 degrees. The crosswind and headwind components were both 1 knot, indicating a relatively calm atmosphere. The pilot then initiated a left-hand pattern entry from runway 30, navigating the aircraft through a series of turns and maneuvers.
The left-hand pattern crosswind turn was completed in under 1 nautical mile in 27 seconds, showcasing the pilot's skill and control over the aircraft. The pattern downwind turn covered a distance of 1 nautical mile, with an angle to the runway of 45 degrees and a turn angle of 14.6 degrees.
As the aircraft approached the runway, it began its final approach to runway 12 from the west, heading 110 degrees at 1 nautical mile and 57.3 meters above ground level. The landing was executed smoothly, with the threshold speed slightly below the target at 50 knots. The touchdown distance was good at 268 meters, and the touchdown speed was 41 knots, which was within the acceptable range.
The touchdown rate was perfect at -0.1 meters per second, indicating a controlled and gentle descent. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.8 meters. The local weather conditions remained the same, with a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and a wind of 1 knot at 269 degrees, resulting in a crosswind and tailwind of 1 knot each.
The total landing distance was 457 meters, which accounted for 17% of the runway's length. The runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.8 meters. Despite these minor deviations, the flight was deemed successful, with a total flight distance of 3 nautical miles and a fuel consumption of -18 kilograms.
The aircraft, identified as Sirius, successfully landed on runway 12 at EGPK Glasgow Prestwick Airport with a score of 84.3%. The final approach was initiated from the west, heading 110.0° at 1 nautical mile and 57.3 meters above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on the runway, which has a length of 2,737 meters.
The threshold height was reported as good, indicating that the aircraft was at the correct height as it approached the runway threshold. However, the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 50 knots. Despite this, the touchdown distance was good at 268 meters, and the touchdown speed of 41 knots was also within acceptable limits. The touchdown rate of -0.1 meters per second was perfect, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 15°C and a wind speed of 1 knot from a direction of 269°. This resulted in a negligible crosswind and tailwind component, with both being 1 knot. The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.8 meters, which may have contributed to a slightly misaligned runway rollout alignment.
The total landing distance was 457 meters, which is 17% of the runway length. This is a relatively short landing distance, indicating that the aircraft was able to touch down and come to a stop within a short distance. However, the runway rollout alignment was also slightly misaligned from the centerline by 11.8 meters, which may have been a result of the initial touchdown position being off-center. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but with some minor deviations from the ideal performance.
