Improve the rollout
A crosswind landing is a geometry problem. The air mass you're flying in is moving sideways across the runway, and you need your ground track down the centreline with your wheels aligned to it at the moment of contact. There are two techniques that will help, the crab and the sideslip.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 10,764 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 2,033 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking to the runway, which took 9 minutes and covered less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-MAX8, departed from runway 20R at KSNA John Wayne Orange County International Airport. The takeoff distance was 2,984 feet, which was 52% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 150 knots, and the local weather conditions were a temperature of 58°F with a wind speed of 3 knots at 276°.
As the aircraft climbed out of the airport, it began its enroute climb, which started 1 mile southwest of the airport and reached an altitude of 38,505 feet above sea level. This climb phase covered 96 nautical miles and took 17 minutes. The aircraft then entered a level cruise phase, which started 8 miles northeast of Mecca, California, and lasted for 78 minutes, covering 691 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another climb phase, which started 4 miles west of KLAA Southeast Colorado Regional Airport and reached an altitude of 40,708 feet above sea level. This climb phase covered 15 nautical miles and took 2 minutes. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 6 miles east of CD03 Tinnes Airport and lasted for 64 minutes, covering 574 nautical miles.
As the aircraft continued its journey, it began a descent phase, which started 4 miles northwest of IL01 Wolford's Airport and descended from 41,023 feet above sea level to 12,970 feet above sea level. This descent phase covered 88 nautical miles and took 10 minutes. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 2 miles southwest of 2LL1 Cwian Field and lasted for 7 minutes, covering 41 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent phase, which started overhead Elmhurst, Illinois, and descended from 12,280 feet above sea level to 6,329 feet above sea level. This descent phase covered 24 nautical miles and took 5 minutes. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started 10 miles east of Uptown and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 5 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began another descent phase, which started 4 miles east of Uptown and descended from 6,234 feet above sea level to 4,615 feet above sea level. This descent phase covered 10 nautical miles and took 3 minutes. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Portage Park and lasted for 2 minutes, covering 4 nautical miles.
The aircraft then began a climb phase, which started overhead Schiller Park and climbed from 4,031 feet above sea level to 4,781 feet above sea level. This climb phase covered 5 nautical miles and took 2 minutes. The aircraft then entered another level cruise phase, which started overhead Wood Dale and lasted for 7 minutes, covering 20 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached its destination, it began a descent phase, which started 3 miles east of Near North Side and descended from 4,863 feet above sea level to 1,961 feet above sea level. This descent phase covered 11 nautical miles and took 5 minutes.
The final approach to runway 28C at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport was made from the east, with a heading of 270.0° at 4 nautical miles and 1,282 feet above ground level. The landing was made on runway 28C, which had a length of 10,764 feet. The threshold speed was well above the target speed at 142 knots, and the touchdown point was 662 feet beyond the touchdown zone. The touchdown speed was a little fast at 131 knots
The Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft successfully landed on runway 28C at KORD Chicago O'Hare International Airport, achieving a score of 91.3%. The final approach to the runway was initiated from the east, heading 270.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,282 feet above ground level (agl). The aircraft successfully touched down on the runway, with a threshold height that was considered good.
However, there were a few areas for improvement during the landing. The threshold speed was significantly above the target speed, reaching 142 knots. Additionally, the touchdown speed of 131 knots was a little fast, indicating that the pilot may have been able to flare the aircraft more effectively to achieve a smoother touchdown. On the positive side, the touchdown rate was excellent, with a rate of -58 feet per minute (fpm).
The landing distance of 4,474 feet was 42% of the runway length, which is a relatively short distance considering the aircraft's size and weight. However, the runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 15 feet from the centreline, which may have contributed to the subsequent rollout alignment issues. The crosswind and headwind conditions were relatively light, with a wind speed of 10 knots at 200° and a headwind of 4 knots.
During the rollout, the aircraft's alignment was misaligned by 61 feet from the centreline, which may have been a result of the initial touchdown position being off-centre. Overall, the landing was considered successful, but there were a few areas for improvement that the pilot and crew can work on to refine their skills and achieve an even higher score.
