MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Arrival
Begin the flare with progressive back pressure and keep it coming until the sink is arrested, rather than flying it on flat.
What happened: The nose was barely raised in the flare and little of the sink was taken out, flying the aircraft onto the runway. This pattern usually carries through to a firm touchdown with a noticeable sink rate.
Watch for: Vertical speed indicator: a smoothly reducing sink through the normal flare band, not a steady rate into the runway.
Arrive slow and the sink rate at the threshold is already above schedule, the flare is short because there is no energy to extend it, and the touchdown is hard in a way that feels exactly like a late flare. Diagnosing a slow arrival as a late flare is the catastrophic misread: you respond by flaring earlier, which bleeds more speed, which makes the next one worse. The tiebreaker is threshold speed against VRef, not feel. Never diagnose a flare without it.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
Two stabilised approach gates, each with seven checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,611 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,611 m of the 3,365 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 627 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from İstanbul Airport, the Airbus A350-900 began its journey by taxiing from the parking area to the runway, a process that took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles. As it rolled down runway 35R, the aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 168 knots, clearing the ground at a distance of 2,413 meters, which accounted for 59% of the runway's length. The local weather conditions at the time of departure featured a temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, with a gentle tailwind of 3 knots.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb 2 miles northwest of Arnavutköy, rising from an initial altitude of 1,194 feet above sea level to a cruising altitude of 36,001 feet, an increase of 34,807 feet in just 21 minutes. This climb phase covered a distance of 136 nautical miles. The aircraft then entered a prolonged level cruise phase, which lasted 496 minutes and spanned 3,853 nautical miles. This was followed by a brief climb phase, where the aircraft ascended from 36,112 feet to 39,663 feet in just 3 minutes, covering a distance of 26 nautical miles. The final descent phase began 11 miles west of Tomvale Airport, where the aircraft descended from 40,001 feet to 1,993 feet in 25 minutes, covering a distance of 141 nautical miles.
As the aircraft approached Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport, it began its final approach to runway 15L from the northwest, aligning itself with the runway at an altitude of 1,435 feet above ground level. The landing was completed at a speed of 130 knots, with a touchdown point located 208 meters beyond the touchdown zone. The total landing distance was 1,526 meters, accounting for 45% of the runway's length. Following the landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, a process that took 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 4,500 nautical miles, covering a duration of 602 minutes and consuming 60,646 kilograms of fuel.
The aircraft touched down on runway 15L at CYYZ Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport, with a threshold height of 55 ft agl, slightly above the target. The threshold speed of 136 kt was also slightly above the target, indicating a moderate approach speed. The aircraft's descent was controlled, with a firm touchdown rate of -328 fpm, but the touchdown speed of 130 kt was a little fast, suggesting a slight over-control during the flare.
The touchdown point was 208 m beyond the touchdown zone, indicating a slightly long touchdown. The runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.0 m from the centreline, which was also reflected in the runway rollout alignment, which was slightly misaligned by 9.2 m from the centreline. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of -8 °C and a light tailwind of 2 kt, did not significantly impact the landing.
The total landing distance of 1,526 m was 45% of the runway length, indicating a relatively short landing distance. Overall, the landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 89.2%. However, there were some areas for improvement, including the touchdown speed and alignment with the centreline.
